Back Up & Reload Text Messages?

Can I ask why you don't want to use PC Suite?

Doing a format and heard when using reload using pcsuite can mess things up.

This has happened to some but only when doing a firmware update. In fact I used it when I was doing my latest firmware update and it was still ok and I don't know of any reported problems when just doing a straight format on the same firmware version.

If you have a microSD card, you can tell it to use that rather than phone memory, which would presumably avoid the problem (caveat: I've not tested that it will definitely work): in Messaging, Options > Settings > Other > Memory in use > change to the microSD card. As 'Phone memory' is default, you would probably have to change it back to the memory card after flashing the firmware again, or it would appear you had no messages.

There is an SMS Export program available from S60.com if you register, but it's export only in text format for archival purposes (and one file per message), you can't import them again.

Assumingly backuping up and resoring just messages would reduce the risk of a screw up to almost zero
