Google Maps Mobile has FINALLY been updated to a native S60 application, and even supports the N95's internal GPS! You can see the white GPS dot on the screenshot. Other than that, it looks pretty similar to the old version, only faster since it's native.

Go to the link below in your phone's webbrowser:

You haven't mentioned the half of it. Just installed it following Rafe's item in the "news" section. He describes the GPS-aware satellite view as "magical" and I have to agree with him. It's like science fiction.

but one problem, can you download the map you want and save it on the phone without the need to have a WLAN or GPRS data plan to get it ?

I don't think it is possible

If Google used the same maps as Nokia, that would be possible, but for me it's the satellite image maps that are most impressive, and you could never download them as they would be massive (probably 100s of Gigabytes for UK alone).

in the picture above, on the right! it has 250kb! what is it downloading? i had my gf's one today and installed google maps but the downloading process was slooooooooow, so i had to return the phone and hence cancel it!

The map. It uses a data connection and downloads the data on the fly. This is my goto app for GPS now cos its even useful when i walk the dogs in the woods. Ok so I can't see the paths cos of the tree cover but at least I can't get lost as I always know what direction to head in to get back to the car :icon14:

I have to say, having an N95 without an unlimited data package is like having an Aston Martin with the top speed limited to 30mph

i agree but i really wanted to get nokia maps to work but i can't find belize on that list in map loader! like another guy said, maybe its under something else like another country! but which one? mexico is the closest to us! the time it takes to download is ridiculous, the rate as i saw might take days for me to complete! 😞
