Can anyone suggest the optimum size for displaying pictures on my phone?
I generally use Irfanview for resizing and resampling for the web.
To summarise, pictures taken with Cannon A620 downsized and transferred to phone, for best size/quality rate,

well the screen resolution is 240x320 so that should be give you the best output theoretically,
Yep, 240x320 is full screen. If you want to set a picture as wallpaper without it stretching or distorting the wallpaper size is 240x198.
I was wondering this earlier (promting a topic search, hence thread bump)
the resolution of the space occupied by an 'image as a wallpaper' is 240 pixels wide, by 235 pixels vertically. so adjust and crop images to this size on your computer to stop distortion.
Its ironic that there is no setting in the cam to allow for pictures taken on the phone to be usable as wallpaper without distortion

Or, if you've got Photoshop, you can do a crop on your favourite image and set the dimentions to the ones above. When you draw out the box, Photoshop keeps the aspect ratio for you 😊
