Sky Anytime for Symbian S60 3rd Edition

Well, after a long while having to use a Sony (pah) Java application to utilise Sky's Remote Record features, they have at last seen fit to release a native Symbian 3rd Edition version.

Type the following URL into your phone's web browser and download the app, which will automatically install.

http://mobile.sky.com/skyapp/skyapp.asp

The page will auto detect your phone and install the correct version.

My personal opinion of this application is that it is a vast improvement over the Java version and better than the old S60 2nd Edition that I used to use on my 6680.

It took a while to get there, but here it is 😊

All the best,

Rob.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I've been waiting for it too, ever since I got my Sky+ box. Works a treat too.

Yeah, nice one! Quicker and a bit slicker than the java version too.

installed it and tried the 30 days trial but am getting garbage on the screen 😞 what is this software all about ?

Well, if you have a Sky+ box, it gives you the ability to set the recorder from your mobile, by picking the program from the Sky EPG you see on your screen. There's some other stuff as well, but it's the remote record feature I got it for.

The 30 day trial is for the Mobile TV, but, like chrsfrwll, I got it for the Remote Record.

Just to give you an idea of what it offers, here are a couple of screenshots.

I've had this running on my N95 for 4/5 weeks now and it runs really smoothly, took my approximately 30 seconds to find and record the footie highlights from Hampden Park on Saturday! 😊 And the data used amounted to a grand 17k.

I got a text message from Sky earlier today stating that "A new version of Sky Anytime on Mobile launches 18/10 & updates automatically next time you access the service & may take a few mins to install".

Thought it was relevant for this thread.

I installed this a few days ago, but like JethroTul i too got garbage on screen,
the app seems to run fine but all the fonts are just squares, like there is a font missing from my device.
My N95 is only a few weeks old with hardly any apps installed, and i'm running the default Nokia theme.

Anyone else getting squares instead of font characters?

Now updated to version 5 today !

Go to the link in my first post and download 😊

yeah, I got the upgrade thru too... seems to work a bit quicker for me, but not used it much
