Hi,

I'm planning to buy external Bluetooth GPS receiver and looking for an advice which one is the best. with all the GPS software in the market , all Bluetooth GPS receiver works the same with any of them or each GPS software need a specific Bluetooth GPS ?

Now with external Bluetooth GPS receiver all those software like (TomTom , Navigon , ....etc. ) can work and connect with external Bluetooth GPS using N95 ?

Id be looking for something thats sirf3 for starters.

Also -

Battery life

Size

How its charged (some have car adaptors only, some have home adaptors only, and vice versa).

Generally they all work.

As for software, I havent come across anything thats internal only (tomtom is external only, Im sure you know), but thats not to say there isnt one.

Mind you, I have used viewranger, navigon, garmin, navicore, route66, copilot...

thanks, What do you mean by "sirf3" ?.

Basically, its the chipset inside that runs the thing. Sirf2 was around for a long time, and was reasonably good. However, when sirf3 came out, it was much better.

Shorter lock on times,

much better reception. A friend got enough satelittes when he was in our work, a stone walled converted barn!

A lot of people say it works fine from inside the golve compartment. Obviously this is very useful, as it means its not on view and it also doesnt go sliding around everywhere.

Sirf3 is generally much superiour to anything else. There are different chipsets from sirf, but if you go with something sirf3 (they almost always say) you really cant go far wrong. Just look for the other points I noted for whichever preferance you have.

Another friend has a solar powered one he keeps on the parcel shelf. Its never sunny enough to run it completely, but between charge times its much longer.

Thanks again, can you let me know if this is a good one

I cant say yes for definate, obviously Ive never used that model.

However, if I was looking for one, Id wouldnt have any qualms about buying it. Comes with a wall charger and car charger. Good stuff really.

Did a little research....

Seems its very good, but not to use if you want to use it for walking. Good for the car though.

Also, you seem to be paying too much if your going for that auction. Its less here, and also has 1 year warranty.

that seems really expensive.. I got a great one for about $30 which was a Holox (there are also Holux ones that are good)one... very small, comes with wall charger and uses a motorola car charger with I got for about $2. TTFL is really short and its deadsmall so fits nicely in your pocket or whatever..
