Gallery AGGH!

I would say im still relatively new to some of the features on my N95, and this is something thats truly got me stumped!!

I've got pictures in my gallery. I want them to be in individual folders (or Albums perhaps) so that they arent just all on the first screen when i enter my gallery.

The trouble has happened though when ive moved stuff into my Albums, because the pictures stay in the main bit too. WHY?

Then to top it off, ive tried moving stuff from phone to memory card, or deleting stuff etc, but they dont go anywhere, or open, or anything, i just get a grey cracked box which i cant do anything with.

Im now worried i have lost my photo's or there is something wrong with my phone 😞

Can anyone help me please?!

Yes, the first view in Gallery is "everything" by default. You have to go into an album to view just that album. Weird, yes.

Gallery searches for content in different locations on the phone, but I couldn't say which ones, or whether it searches everywhere.

It's very frustrating if you think in terms of the 'DOS' path of folders and files, because the OS mashes these around somehow, and presents you with content in a different way. My advice is to try to forget the 'DOS' paths and intuitively try to get used to the way content is presented to you. Remember these things are intended to be used by people who wouldn't know where to start when confronted by what you & I would call a "normal" file tree.

Ahh thats really annoying then! I mean for example.....pictures of my girlfriend (you know the sort i mean) obviously i dont want everyone to go through my gallery looking for something and come across them!!

But, if thats the way it is then thats ok.

Whats worrying me more, is that like i said, i now have photo's that are just a grey box with a line, and i cant delete albums and stuff!! I've switched off my phone and back on, removed the memory card and put it back in, and it still doesnt let me do anything with it! 😞

just use a file browser to change the attributes to hidden.... then they dont display in the main gallery...

I have heard that if you set a file's "Hidden" attribute by a file utility (such as Y-Browser, Active File etc) then it will not be shown in the main screen.

Quality - 😃

That'll work for hiding them - thanks!!

My only problem now is that i cant see some of the pictures anymore, and that i cant delete albums!!

Hmm - i have a feeling that a full reinstall is in order!!

These phones definately ARE like PC's arent they lol

You mean because you've set the "hidden" attribute? If so, then organise your photos into folders and use a file browser to select them to view. You won't be able to flip through them very quickly though.

In the gallery, select "options" then "albums" then "view albums". Move to the album to be deleted and then press the "C" button to delete. Is this what you meant?

Nope 😞 i hadnt set anything, this was from when i just tried to put them in my album the first time round 😞 nothing i can do will delete them.

I can see them - but only as a lil grey square with a black line through them

...as for the albums, ive tried that and using the options menu to delete them, i have one that says "8 photos" underneath but when i go in it has no photos!! And yeah i just cant bloody delete them!!

I think its time for me to copy everything i can off my memory card and format the firmware on my phone if this carries on :icon13: 😡 :frown:
