Firmware Update Probs???

17 replies · 3,501 views · Started 17 October 2007

Hi im trying to update my phones firmware but it keeps stopping at 78.7 mb of the download saying: Downloading software update package failed. The service may be down or your internet connection may not be working properly. Try again later.

Then when i try to update again it resumes from 78.3 mb and goes as far as 78.7 mb saying the same thing.

Im totally baffed as theres nothing wrong with my internet connection and ive also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the nokia software updater which made no difference as it still resumes at 78.3 mb everytime i try which so far is about 10 times.

Please Help.......:con?

any firewall and antivirus software for the duration of the intsall.

Yes avg free edition And avg free anti spyware. Do you think this would make any difference tho?

short answer .. people have had issues with upgrades and firewall/anti-virus software in the past.

Good Luck!

I've had antivirus software secretly delete files for no reason during an extraction process before.. it's certainly worthwhile turning them off if you have unexplained problems. To be honest, antivirus software is looking more trouble than viruses nowadays.. mine's never caught a real virus, but it has ground my system to a halt at times, and caused the above problem.

Ok will turn off the antivirus software & try again.

Fingers crossed.....

Turned off both avg antivirus/spyware & gave it a go and still no luck.:con?

do you have any other nokia stuff on your pc?

Might be conflicting... as Ive heard it do so before..

Hi yes i do have other nokia stuff on my pc heres the lot: nokia connectivity cable driver, nokia pc suite 6.84.10.4, nokia software updater and pc connectivity solution.:con?

welllllll, you 'could' try removing them and clearing the cache they may have of the NSU file?

Theres an app on the nokia site to make a clean removal or your system if you want to try this 'annoying' route 😉

Would you also uninstall the windows driver package - nokia modem? As theres about 5 of these but different versions?

do you use them??? If not I would....

If you do... then, yeah, I probably would too 😉

Id make sure tho that I had the means to reinstall them if needs be... or system restore...

make sure when you reinstall NSU that you got your phone charged and in general too and all that...

just in case that makes any difference to your issue?

Good luck... let us know!

Well to my very suprise it worked, i uninstalled everything nokia cleared the cache, restarted my pc, installed fresh downloads turned off antivirus & updated the firmware.

Many many thanks for all your help kontraband & seki much appreciated😊 😉

Is there any real improvements with the upgraded firmware : 12.0.0.13?
