Hi guys,
Need a little bit of help... I recently signed up for a Vodafone N95, and decided it would be a good idea to debrand and update the firmware...
I successfully changed the product code using NSS and then installed the update using the Nokia software updater. This all seemed to work fine for a little while. Then I proceeded to restore my contacts etc, and then the phone crashed. It now comes up with an error when I start it saying "Phone start-up failed. contact the retailer".
Obviously Vodafone probably won't want to fix this, so what options do I have? Can I update it myself with any software, or do I have to take it to a Nokia shop?
Thanks in advance,
Carl
urm.... Im thinking maybe reflash it... or ..... just take it into voda.. did you change the product code back?
I don't think I can re-flash it, as it needs to be turned on to access it, and it doesn't get to a point where it turned on... Is there any other way to re-flash it? The product code is still the EURO 1 code that I changed it to, not the voda one so I'm not sure vodafone will touch it...
You could try a hard reset - like this;
1. Power off the phone (or remove the battery if it will not power off)
2. Press&Hold 3 * and GREEN buttons at same time
3. Power on (still holding the three buttons)
4. Wait 60 seconds (still holding the three buttons)
Sounds like another case of restoring a backup from a different firmware version causing problems.

I sent an N80 back to O2 I bricked by changing the product code etc etc, they couldnt start it so just replaced it...
otherwise yeah, try that hard reset or dabble in the dark arts of phoenix etc 😉
you're an absolute genius sturgeon!! Cheers 😃
