Hi again
I did a firmware update on my N73 last week and ever since I cannot get TomTom to work.
I re-paired my GPS receiver and it shows on the phone as connected but when I launch TomTom it constantly says 'No GPS Device'.
I can't figure if it is a phone or receiver problem, but am leaning toward the phone as it failing to work coincides with the firmware update.
Does anyone have any clues?
*am convinced I am just being thick*
The GPS is a Fuzion and TomTom is completely legit
When you press *#0000# which version of firmware does it show you have?
Before the latest updates (4.0735.3.0.2 & 4.0736.3.2.1), the firmware had an issue with legacy Bluetooth devices running version 1.2 or below. That has now been rectified and I have proven this on my own phone. As Smoggie asked, what firmware are you on ?
Secondly, have you gone into the GPS setup page on TomTom and selected "Other GPS Receiver" ?
Tnaks for the replies
Firmware is V4.0726.2.0.1 26.06.07 RM-133
No not gone into other bluetooth, d'oh - will try that and report back
Unfortunately you have upgraded to one of the fw's which have the issue with connecting to older bluetooth devices. So you will either need to buy a new BT GPS receiver (bluetooth v2.0), wait for the latest firmware version to become available for your product code or change your product code to a vanilla product code, upgrade your firmware to the latest version, which allows connection to all bluetooth gps receivers.
There are plenty of threads on how to change your product code, and which code to use, likewise there are several threads with Bluetooth V2 gps receivers available from ebay!
Good luck 😊
I only bought the GPS in Feb, so i'm not about to shell out for another.
I have no clue what a vanilla code is, guess I have some thread detecting and reading to do.
Thanks for your advice 😊
I am trying to find a thread about vanilla codes, but am not having much success so far.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful
Found out how to and changed the code now, just appear to be unable to open software updater now 😞
oops sorry, just use the Euro1 product code, or one of the other country specific codes of your choice >> http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/53992/
I used the Euro1 code and updated to 4.0735.3.0.2 a week or so ago, now my TomTom gps receiver works fine 😊
have done it all now [I think]
V4.0736.3.2.1
04.09.07
RM-133
Is that ok or should I get another one?
The font for txting seems a bit larger [might be my imagination though] but i'm glad of that, I always wanted to be able to increase the font size
((((my aging eyes))))
Just hooked up to GPS and it fired up right away - thank you, thank you, thank you
*is happy*
*goes to play some more*
I have a dictionary file now - sure that is new? - when I click though it says 'dictionary word information missing, install word database' but no yes/no option?
I think I may become a nuisance for the next day or so 😊
Hello from a newbie!
I've got the same problem...
I've followed Smoggie's advice as above, and now have the same firmware as Thready, yet my bluetooth gps still won't connect to TomTom.
Any ideas?
Cheers
