N95 as a skypephone ?

4 replies · 2,128 views · Started 19 October 2007

Dear all,

I'm thinking about replacing both my mobile phone and my skype phone (Netgear SPH200D) by a N95 8Go, once available. I wonder if the best skype client available on the N95 (fring? an official skype client ?) has a sufficient quality and is user-friendly enough for such an usage ?

Cheers,

Aurelien

I just got the C******D version of IMplus 4 skype and it worked as a charme....

Try that one and search on the forums that provide C****D software

besides skype you get google msn SIP .. etc etc in one client

and I'm pretty sure its still free .. 😉

still waiting on that video IM client though!

The N95 has SIP built into it, so if you use sip-based voip, rather than Skype, you don't need a client. Many sip-based operators will give you settings for an N95. Personally, I use Truphone, which has a very small-footprint client, but is extremely user-friendly and does everything for you pretty much automatically. Free calls to landlines and some mobiles all over the world, too.

^^

This. One thing about Truphone though; don't leave it connected to your home wifi while you're at home unless your N95 is plugged into the wall, otherwise Truphone will drain your battery faster than lightning!
