Unresponsive media key

Sometime the media key (the one with 4 points on the front right of the N95) on my N95 becomes inrespondive when I press it and only re-activatesif I swith the phone on and off. Does anyone else have this problem or can offer any solution?

It's a known bug in the firmware, related to a repeating alarm on workdays.

A search of this forum will reveal more details.

yeap its a known bug the old software, something to do with when a Repeating alarm is set.

try deleting your alarms and see if that sorts it/stops it coming back?

if so, you either want to not set alarms again, or upgrade firmware

Thanks, but I can't accept not using the alarm feature beacuse of a bug, it is quite an unacceptable failing of the N95. Anyway, I don't understand what firmware is (is the equivalent of an operating system?). If so, how do I check my version and how do I know if I should update it, does it wipe everything from the phone?! And will it solve the unresponsive media key?

You can check your Firmware version by hitting *#0000# that will give your version. You can use Nokia Software Updater to upgrade the firmware.

just add a few quick alarms and it should stop. Or if you want to use the key again remove them all.

Ah, I have that problem and I never even noticed.. shows how useful that key is. It is extremely bizarre, though.. there's no obvious connection at all between repeating alarms and the multimedia menu.
