Hi all
My work provides me with the 6120 and the first thing i noticed was the symbian os on it runs at about double the speed of the N80
I think it has feature pack 1 installed
Any way of converting the N80 i have to run this updated version of the symbian OS?
TA
If there is, there will b newer version waiting for us:tongue: ....but dont think is possible...

OK so does the internet edition software have any advantages for me?
Depends on what kinda things you consider to be an advantage? 😉

Faster operation would be adventageous 😊
Everything else would be a bonus
then go ahead and upgrade it. I dunno about it being much faster... its probably feels faster at first because its cleared all your files off! 😉
I'd not backup to the MMC tho if you can... and just fresh install stuff... if you dont have the ways to fresh install then yeah, use the MMC.
Everythings IE now anyway... you get the benefit of more VOIP/SIP support on IE... Nokia supported and no need to change your codes AFAIK. Have a search.. theres plenty of info on opinions between the 2. 😊

Cool just use the updated thingy that kicks around here to do it then?
The nokia updated proclaims i have the most current version.... 4.0623.0.41
This one was released on the 26th of July last year. surely they have updated since then?
UK model currently has 3 software installed but is fully sim free.
Cheers
You may have the current firmware for your service provider but there is an updated generic f/w that 4.07.07.7 ish.
If you want to upgrade to the generic version you need Nemesis to change your product code (go look at the firmware update thread Cash did for links and codes) and then connect up to Nokia Software updater again and it should say there is an update to 4.7 available.
If you do this tho... and you have things like web'n'walk etc that are service provider specific you will loose these.
I very much doubt that the speed difference is due to the firmware, it's more likely due to the CPU speed.
The 6120 has a CPU Clock Rate of 369 MHz, whereas the N80 is 220 MHz, which is near enough twice the speed.
