Hey, its me again, i couldn't wait for my phone to come in, so i went ahead and meddle with my girlfriend's one. i downloaded the latest version of Nokia Maps and installed it on her phone! it then asked for a wifi connection, i brought it home as where she lives doesn't have any (suck). anyhow, got it to my place and this started to happen.

look at that page, the picture that comes up, look at the bottom where you see those 3 dots green on the right and the 3MB on the left. im assuming it's downloading the data for the maps but its rather slow, i personally don't have wifi , im catching it from my neighbour! it took me 15 mins to download 2MB! I know there is a way to get the "map data" from the net, to your pc rather than via gps and wifi. Problem is, i don't see my country listed in the list from Nokia Map Loader! (Belize) As it stands it won't locate or pin point my location until it has downloaded what it needs (map data) can someone please get me the mapa data and tell me how i can upload it to her phone? it's for Belize!

P.S- i prefer getting map data off the net n to the pc then to the n95 rather than wireless!

thanks,

Keagan

anyone? don't mean to rush but i got the phone here with me again (gf's) today so im trying to take advantage while i have it!

Download the latest Nokia Map Loader from their site. Connect your N95 to your PC in mass storage mode, select your maps and voices and away you go. (better read their instructions as well though!)

Oh, and the three green beads mean that the GPS has fixed your position.

hey man, i did download the latest version, i wasn't aware of the Mass storage thing though! but you still haven't answered the other ?'s. What ive come to notice that i don't see my country in Nokia Map Loader (Belize) and it is covered just not navigable! and the speed is ridiculously slow! Can you tell me where i can find my country?? and it seems better or quicker to download the maps to your SD from your pc instead of wifi, if thats possible! thanx

Edit: it is possible!

i downloaded google maps on her phone tonight, i got to see satellite image with my house and everything but it was downloading sumthing again, it moved faster than the nokia maps but it was still rather too slow! what is it doing?? can someone PLEASE just point me and tell me where i can get BELIZE data maps for Nokia Maps, it isn't listed under the map loader! but after i installed nokia maps update, it began downloading something that was taking forever, if i knew more or less the file size i would probably leave it overnight or something but i NEED to know! plz!

thanx

P.S. Sux living here- nothing works

The difference between Google maps and Nokia is that Google maps are not stored on the phone, so wherever you move to it has to download the required map.

I think you have 2 choices with Nokia maps - either download the surrounding area (Mexico?) in the hope that Belize is attached, or just let the phone keep downloading as required until its all there.

I think I would try downloading the Mexico map in mass storage mode via PC (double click on America) anyway it must be cheaper that way - unless your gf has an unlimited data contract!

finally!! thanx sturgeon, i really hope mexico is the one, i mean its listed on nokia's website under Non navigable maps but that means i should still be able to get the maps without routing and navigation privilidges right? i guess if i get mines either tom or today ill give it a go! if anyone knows anything else please let me know!

I understand now that google maps will need to get downloaded everytime, so i assume thats what that 250kb was on the top right hand corner.
