I was annoyed that the "messages" app on my friends 6110 startet up so much faster than on my N95, even when it was active in the background there was a delay switching to it.
I've found out that having the app assigned to the left softkey on my phone, there a delay activating it (even it it's already running).
Switching to it using the taskmanager, or by assigning it to one of the application shortcuts on the standby screen (not the softkeys) eliminates the delay.
Even assigning to the right softkey makes it work OK.
Somehow any app assigned to the left softkey has a delay in being activated 😮
I don't know if it's my 3 branded firmware or what, but it's a very strange behaviour, and quite annoying.
I just installed generic 12.0.013 firmware and the "slowness" of the left softkey is still there!!!
How annoying is that 😡
I believe this is deliberate - a feature rather than a bug. You can lock the phone by pressing the left, then right softkeys in quick succession at the standby screen, so there has to be a delay to give time to see if that second keypress is coming.
Hi Mithent
That makes sense, I'm not sure how the 6110 locks the keys - if it uses a different method your suggestion is probably correct.
I just changed the layout so I have a less frequent app on the left key and the Messages app on the right, giving me faster access.
Just checked with my friends 6110 it uses the left key the same way, but has no delay!
A bug maybe?
