So guys is it out with Vodafone?
i'm thinking to get one but i've read that vodafone removed the VOIP from the n95 firmware someone knows if this is going to happen even with the n95 8 gb??
any news??

I saw it in the Vodafone shop yesterday. Said it was free on certain plans - don't know which - and 400 on PAYG!

Ok thanks but does someone know if they are going to remove the VOIP functionality has they already have done for the n95?
I really need the VOIP i don't want to change product code and update the firmware...!
thank to u all!

pureheart wrote:Thanks Mate i'm reading now!
but u did scare me!

Sorry mate!

As for the VoIP, I'm pretty sure Vodafone would disable it if that's what they did with the original N95. It's terrible how Vodafone & Orange butcher the software on their phones. 😞

Oh no i wish not!
i'm hoping someone to tell me they have not!
😞

Sorry to tell you, but yes Vodafone have disabled the VOIP on the N95 8GB.

With the original n95 on vodafone, couldn't you flash the firmware and put on the standard nokia (generic) one?

If you could you will be able to on the n95 8gb as well I presume?

Yeah, you can (once an update is available), but the OP doesn't want to change product codes or firmware, unfortunately. 😞

opps, missed that.

I'm glad you can though because according to vodafone, mine is arriving tomorrow. I will be flashing it as soon as an update is available!

cheers

Apparently T-mobile will be releasing it eventually. I'll just wait till then.

where did u hear that, t-mobile told me they would not...i hope they do as i done my contract but dont want to upgrade cos i want n95 8GB

I would imagine so 😞

They dont want you making internet calls and not spending your usage with them now do they 🙄

Oh this is sad 😞 !
Vodafone doesn't realize that these limitations will let them loose customers!
And i'm one of them...so we have to wait more then 😞 t-mobile is going to take it then?
anyone knows about O2?

I can't remember exactly who will and who won't sell the N95 8GB, but I remember reading that 2 of the networks have refused to stock it (along with the N81), as the phone comes with Nokia's music store, which takes their profits away!

The Vodafone website states that the N95 8GB is a "Vodafone exclusive".

So where did you hear that it'll be available for T-Mobile?

It'd be great if they release it on other networks, but it looks like it may only ever be available on Vodafone.

ok, I've got mine from vodafone and after using it for a bit I can say I'm very disappointed.

vodafone is written on the back, which doesn't look too bad but i would rather it wasn't there.

as expected, the firmware has been ruined

slider is a bit loose

something wrong with the bottom of the screen (like dark cones pointing up from the bottom)

box it came in has vodafone plastered over it (this doesn't bother me but it might bother some people)

I just can't understand why vodafone (and other operators) do this to the firmware - it looks horrendous! How many people do Nokia employ to make the UI look good including all the colours they use etc?? Why do vodafone think they can throw away all that work and make something that looks really bad.

gutted ... might just have to send it back and buy a generic one from a shop when they are released.....

Boomah I'm totally with you!
and totally disappointed as you!
yes it looks like vodafone is gonna loose a lot of clients this time!!!!!
I'm going to wait till after christmas and wait for the other operators to get the n95 8gb!

Slider is fine on the wifes, but the back doesn't fit too good

I have to say the picture makes it look worse than it is, but it is still very poor build quality for a high end smartphone.

How does that compare with yours?

they have definately removed the feature. i've had mine for a few days now & it's not there.

i'm going to de-brand my handset in a few days after i recieve my unlock code from voda.

i've been told that voda have a uk exclusive on the handset until the new year & with the launch of the iphone on november 9th i can't see o2 being too eager to source this handset.

i work in the carphone warehouse & our purchasing department haven't even heard of the 8gb n95!!!

if you decide to keep it you can have the rear casing replaced for 45 @ carphone's express repair centre's.

i spoke to one of our engineers & they have ordered screens/casings etc.. from nokia

Oh so it's not sure that O2 is taking the n95 8gb with the new year?
I'm gonna go with t-mobile then...

i'm not saying that but it seems unlikely. i know both o2 & carphone are concentrating heavily on the iphone (don't even ask about the training sessions, tests or sales technique roleplaying!)

in our training woorkbooks the n95 & n95 8gb are both identified as the iphone's main competition.

I need some help as I am just about to receive a Nokia N95 8gig phone which for various reasons will come from vodafone. If I look at my friends then his is
V10.0.021
29-09-07
RM 320.

So we both want to be able to access via wifi the internet etc and the internet symbol does not appear on the menu.
This fone appears to be the latest offering from voda please can anyone point us in the correct direction for this version. Will it be the same route of upgrading as with the first Nokia n95 and which Euro version and flashing which version of the software etc. OR will we not be able to flash this vodafone badged phone, and please note it says on screen RM320 not RM 159 ?? as with the first model out

Thanks in anticipation.

the internet symbol has been replaced with a vodafone live symbol but you can still access the standard internet & use a wifi connection if you wish
