Hi all,
Well unlike most i really couldn't care less about Tom Tom 6 working with the internal GPS receiver as IMO my small Holox-BT-321 is a far more powerful and accurate solution. Which i can easily place in the best position using some Velcro on the dash and bottom of it. For mounting my N95 8GB in the car i have a PDAir flip case and the PDAir suction mount phone holder that works perfectly.
Whilst it may be cool not having to need an additional GPS receiver for now this is a far better solution giving better results, and it's not like it is a large bit of kit to either take with you or leave in the vehicle. But then this is just my preference and one i will be sticking with for the foreseeable future, and i also find it incredibly accurate to my actual position to.
Marc
Fair enough but the point people are making is that TomTom should patch their software since everyone else who makes symbian satnav software uses the internal GPS now. Given that we've paid for this device with built in GPS, we don't want to be forced to use an external device. If I buy a laptop with a touchpad, I don't want software that requires an external mouse!
Also, the reason the I like the N95 so much is convergence. Sometimes I see something and want to take a photo but there is no reason I would have bought a camera with me. It's ok I have my N95.
Same thing with GPS. I might be visiting some mates and we'll decide to go somewhere unplanned or I'm walking the dogs in the woods and lose my bearing. I don't have my GPS device with me but it's ok, I have my N95.

Exactly on the button. While *some* people dont mind taking a BT reciever about, the whole point for me was not having to leave something in the car. If I have a seperate device, I'll have to take it with me all the time, whereas my phone I automatically have on me.
Trust me, its very little to do with 'cool' (Im sure we would all have iphones if we were that shallow) but more function and as said, convergence.
For the record, my 6110 is behaving as well as a sirf3 reciever. I get a lock in under 10 seconds, usually 5. Or instant (yes instant) if I use it from where I last turned it off.
I also don't mind having a BT GPS receiver, I don't have my own car (don't need one in London) so when I need a car I just hire one, and some have the heated front screen which doesn't let the GPS signal through, so I just put the receiver on the parcel shelf.
That said, I do agree that Tomtom should have got their A into G and made a patch for their customers.
They should do, because I (and many others no doubt, apart from the likes of Monica) will buy it as soon as it comes out.
AFAIK, its only a minor change, as almost every other large producers of satnav software have now done it.
I bought Garmin XT in the end; got it for such a low price, it had to be done. Easily compariable to Tomtom and I managed to load up the speed camera PIOs, using a utilitie from Garmins website.
Very impressed and if you select say a resturant; it gives you the full address and contact details.
Just watch out for late instructions, occasionally they can come too late, especially at roundabouts.
I have been to the gym and back, which meets a couple of roundabouts and it seems fine. Direction are spoken with 500metres turn right, 300metres turn right, and so on. Seems to give me enough time to get the right turning and the arrow updates far more accurately then the Nokia system.
To all N95 owners, just use Garmin Mobile XT forSymbianS60 V.41020 :icon14:
It far the prettiest and most polised software around at the present time
Its soo nice with a bunch off options never seen i S.60 Nav soft so far
Its possibile to find c****** but somehow tricky to install.
But it has been reported working on N958GB and ive got it working on my normal n95.
So try it out fock's  😉
