Questions from a new N80 owner

Hello!

Please help me with these points.

- I'm in Poland now, but I bought a N80 from the Vodafone online shop in Portugal. I want to unlock it (legally) and Vodafone PT charges me 100Eur for it. My question is: if I unlock it and then update the firmware, will it still be unlocked? Should I update first and unlock later or vice-versa?
- Will I be able to update the firmware with Nokia's updater without changing the product code?

( from the two questions above, the biggest question is how updating the firmware affects unlocking of the phone)

- How can I _make sure_ that when I use Fring, it will only be using a WLAN connection when one is in range and not GSM/3G data plans?

Thanks for any help!

I hope members what???

Anyway,

if you unlock it.... its unlocked. You can go ahead and update the f/w to voda or generic.... You cant unlock the phone by updating the f/w

Depending on what version of f/w your on, yes you should be able to update using NSU..

RE fring: check out this for example... and search on there too

you can hit 'Settings --> Connection Manager' to prioritise APs via 'AP Group Management', and also in 'Settings --> Connection Manager --> Settings' to preference Wi-Fi.

Download the latest version of Fring to get this functionality - but keep in mind that only the Symbian version (for phones running Symbian 9.1/9.2) currently supports it...
