Bluetooth problem or ME!!

5 replies · 1,799 views · Started 27 October 2007

I have just bought N80 and have bought a bluetooth gps receiver so that i can use tomtom 6 on my phone. I have version v4.0623 software on the phone. I have never used a phone with bluetooth before but i have 'paired' the phone with the gps receiver but when i go onto the tomtom software it says 'no gps device'. Am i doing something wrong or is the gps receiver faulty???

Does the BT device show in the paired BT items?

Is it set to autorised?

When you start TomTom did you choose the TomTom own GPS module or did you choose the 'other gps'?

Yes, it's set to authorised. when i switch on tomtom program on my phone it doesn't ask what gps module i would like to use. It comes up with a map of my home address and says that there's no gps device. But when i turn the gps receiver on even without my phone being on it flashes blue which according to the paperwork this means that it has a bluetooth connection.... strange...!!

You may have already done this but you need to configure tomtom to your bluetooth gps unit.

To do this :-

Turn On Bluetooth

start tomtom
go into settings by pressing centre of navigate button.
scroll down and select "change preferences"
Navigate button "Left"
Navigate button "Left"
Select "Show GPS Status"
Click "configure"
Select "Other Bluetooth GPS Receiver"
Press Centre Navigate Button.

Hopefully This Helps

Schmitt, you're an angel!!

I wasn't aware that this had to be done - it didn't say this had to be done on the instructions and as i've never used bluetooth before i was relying on the instructions! :con?

Many thanks for your help, hopefully I won't get lost now!!!! :wavey:
