Hi all, I am having a major dilemma and could really use some advice.
I am getting rid of my iphone and about to buy an N95. I ran over to the Nokia superstore only to find out that the Black 8gb N95 does not support US 3g.
So now I am left with the major dilemma of either getting the 8gb one anyway despite not having 3G or getting the US silver one with the 3G.
I am in love with the black 8gb version. I love the screen the color, the memory, build quality and the extra plasic covering the screen but is 3G really that much faster over edge in the US to warrant giving up all the 8GB goodness for the old silver one. I am really torn and dont know what to do.
I would use the phone mainly for games, web browsing, movies, music, possible TV with the new sligplayer and all the other great things the N95 is capable of.
I would really appreciate any opinions and advice.
i live in uk and id lova a us n95, id get that over the 8gb, the only reason id want a 8gb is the huge ram, but the us n95 has that anyway, so the us 3g n95 wud be the better choice, 8gb mem cards are due out in november or 6gb are already available, so if u get the us n95 atleast ull have the benefit of having a mem card slot and 3g, the n95 8gb has no mem slot and no 3g, the choice is urs but the us n95 is surely the right choice if u live in usa
If the price difference isn't too great, I'd go with the 8Gb version. Having said that, the N95-3's memory can be expanded with bigger memory cards (when they're available), which would enable you to store more movies, games etc...
Actually storage isnt my biggest concern. I really love the upgrades to the screen size and screen protector and the new black look. It just feels like its built better.
I just wish I knew how valuable having 3G in the US is. From my experiences in the past it has not been that fast but if it will allow me to watch TV, use it as a modem, surf the web at blazing speeds and stream video content then i guess it would be worth it. I'm just worried that the US 3G network is not very stable.

Well, it depends where you live. In SoCal the 3g is pretty good and it's really fast in the northeast part of the states. Pretty much, if your in a large city, 3G rules!!! I've been tethering on my laptop and talking on the phone simultaneously which is a great feature of 3G. I say N95-3 all the way for the plain fact of 3G. For web surfing, 3G is really great. If I want to download a large file (>100mb) I'll just wait until I get to a real high speed connection Can it replace my cable connection at home? Heck no, but it's extremely convenient on trips or vacations if your lugging your laptop with you. Yes, it would be nice to have the .2" larger screen but size isn't everything right :con?
3.5g in US N95 is awesome... so far, most major cities are working at speed. Dallas, NYC, SFO, even Napa and Sonoma.
Best thing, is I just got the 6gb memory card and it works great.

Is it true that it's lighter than the iPhone? I also read that it has a much longer batter life versus the silver N95 (something like 280 hours on standby). The 128mb of RAM is also suppose to fix some memory problems the silver model had.
Can anyone testify to these? Anyone tried both for a period of time?

These are all true enough statements but since the phone isn't available yet, no one can 'testify' to them
if you live in the US and have att, then its a no brainer to get the 3g version. why spend 700 dollars on a phone and run it on GSM? 3G is the way the n95 is supposed to be used. so take advantage of it. they both have the same memory upgrade, and same battery upgrade to 1200mAh. 3G > 0.2" screen.

It has 3G, but it has European 3G, and due to frequency differences it won't work on US 3G networks, only GSM/GPRS.
