If you took the code from the back it would be the original one!
The sim unlock is done by imei number not country code (if requested from network)
If you take it to your local guy he will just flash it with generic
cheers mate, i might get it unlocked, its on vodafone uk at the mo, but other operaters are doing better deals for PAYG thats why
there are some guys in my city market, who say they can unlock any bb5 phone for 30, but vodafone charge 20, and theses guys cant do it in the shop, but you have to wait, and they take it somewhere phone somewhere else.

I read in another post that u can get your vodaphone unlocked for free by vodaphone if u've had the phone for more than a year.
Hi,
I was reading through this thread and I wanted to clear up any confusion for all of you.
Vodafone will unlock all phones bought from them. To do this you will need to have an active Vodafone Sim on either PAYT or contract. If you dont have an active Vodafone Sim you could purchase a PAYT Sim for just 2 from the Vodafone website here (this includes 1 of calling credit.)
You can request the unlock code by calling Vodafone on 08700 700 191 or 191 from you Vodafone mobile. You will need to have the make and model of the phone and the IMEI. The IMEI can be found by in putting the code *#06# into the handset and the number will be displayed on the screen, alternatively it can be found on a sticker in the battery compartment.
If the phone is over 12 months old the unlock code will be provided free of charge, for any phones under 12 months old there will be a one off charge of 20 (inc VAT.)
We do hold a number of unlock codes on our database, if this applies to your handset the code will be issued immediately on the call. If not we will request it from the manufacturer for you and this takes up to 72 hours, (Samsung can take longer.)
I hope this helps.
