product codes

the product code is the version of N95 you have, as much as to say, which company has installed its firmware on it... i.e. although both N95's your product code for a T-Mobile one will be different to an O2 one... as will a plum one from an other colour N95.

yeah, if you want to update your firmware to the latest release from Nokia, but your service provider hasnt signed it off you will not be able to use Nokia Software Updater to update the firmware...

So

You'd use another program to change the code to 'trick' NSU to update your firmware...

this would then give you a generic Nokia F/w version without any of the service providers add ins.
