I've been using my N95 with an add-on memory card, and when I used to run the "Media" application, I was able to see photos and video clips that were stored on the memory card when I'd go to Gallery->Images & Video.
However, within the last week, something seemed to cause these items on my memory card to no longer be visible in the "Media" app, and I can't figure out what caused it or how to get "Media" to once again display these photos and videos. When I go to Media->Gallery->Images & Video now, I just get the message (no images or videos).
If I go to File Manager and search the memory card directly, I can see all of my photos and videos in various dated directories. Also, I took a photo today, and it indeed showed up in a dated directory on the memory disk. Therefore, I know that the card is functioning and the items are accessible on it.
I have not done anything with the memory card, nor have I done anything with the photos and videos except try to view them, nor have I hooked up the N95 to my desktop computer in any way.
Can anyone suggest a way to re-connect the memory card to the Gallery within the "Media" application?
Thanks in advance.

No one knows what might be wrong here, nor how to fix it?

Since I'm a bit new to the Symbian/Nokia/N95 world, I'm not sure of where else I can go to try to get assistance with this problem.
Could any of you recommend some other good online sources for help with issues such as this one?
Thanks a lot.

Start your media player open gallery and choose all files. Do you see 'all your files'?
If not you have a number of choices.
1. Do a soft reset.
2. Do a hard reset.
3. Do a sync with your PC without deletion and restore and check your files again.
No. 3 should be tried first but I can't be ar*ed to edit.
Thank you very much for your help with this! I was starting to lose hope that there could be any solution to this problem.

Unfortunately, no. I just get the message
(no files).

OK, so I guess I need to do these steps in this order:
1. Sync with my PC without deletion and then restore.
2. Do a soft reset.
3. Do a hard reset.
I'm not at home with my PC at the moment, so I'll try this tonight or tomorrow and report back here.
Thanks again for your help.
PS: do any of you know what could have caused this problem to occur in the first place? ... so I can hopefully avoid it in the future. Thanks.

By the way, I just now tried the soft and hard reset options (yes, I know, out of order), and neither works. So now, I'm down to the final possibility: the sync/restore.
I'll know tonight if this is the one that will fix my problem.

I was going to do this a couple weeks ago, but I just now got the chance. Sadly, it turns out that it didn't work. In other words, I did this:
1. Sync with the PC without deletion, and then restore
2. Soft reset
3. Hard reset
After all this, nothing has changed: I can see all my images and videos on the memory card when I use the File Manager, but when using the Media app, I still get the message (no images or videos).
It seems to me that the Media app lost knowledge of the memory card, and I'm guessing that it's because some part of its configuration got hosed. Going on this assumption, I wonder if there's a way to reinstall the Media app ... and only that one application. How can I do that?
Or if that isn't what's wrong, can anyone else here suggest anything that I can do to get the Media application to re-recognize the images and videos on my memory card?
Thanks again, in advance.

Well, I finally fixed the problem by reinstalling the firmware.
This still doesn't help me understand how the problem occurred in the first place, but I guess that all's well that ends well.
