But the new version works with keypad blocked!!
That's crap, what's the point of it changing orientation in my pocket and draining the battery??
Rotate me 2.0 BETA deleted
rottie wen keypad is lockd it stil rotates for a min or 2, but it does stop after abit, leave it few mins and press left softkey and turn fone, it stops working to save battery life

Just got mine through mail havent tested it yet but reading email states it should deactivate after 60 seconds
quote from email
"New functionnalities:
- Auto start at phone boot
- Try to reduce battery consumption by totally deactivating auto-rotation
after 60sec of inactivity (press a key or unlock the key pad, if locked, to
reactivate auto-rotation).
- Auto rotation deactivated during a call
- More sensitive when big apps are launched (like web)"
It seems a big improvement as far as I can tell. Battery seems to be lasting better and having it run automatically is obviously a good thing. If the rest of the 'to do' list are achieved for the final version it will be a killer app without doubt. Functionally, it is perfect
I already suggested Samir that he also disables it when the keypad is locked - as you say there's no reason for it to be active when the phone is not being used.
Ok, I've had it running for a day now....
Conclusion? I'm uninstalling it.
I don't know, maybe I'm the only person, but I just realized I don't want my phone to constantly change orientation everytime I move it. It's really annoying, I caught myself having to return to portrait many times only because I moved a hand while texting, browsing etc. Also even when it shuts itself off after one minute it still changes orientation during that time, and again, after unlocking the keyboard again I have to change the orientation to portrait.
So, it's really cool to show off to mates, but I'll stick to traditional way of sliding it the other way to change orientation ONLY WHEN I WANT TO and not accidentaly.
I'll keep the beta 1 installed just to be able to use GPS in landscape mode.
Well done Samir, great application, but just not for me.
PS. On the other side I've noticed a massive improvement in battery consumption!!
The final version will have an option to disable the autorotation and do it with hotkeys instead so keep an eye out for that anyway
hi; can any one tell me when is this app rotate me wil be launch 😊
Please can someone sign it for me?! I have the email and the file but I don't know how to sign it 😞
The issues with "rotate when I didn't mean it!" should be solve-able.
Possibly, the sensor hardware is based on some liquid, which means it "thinks" it went landscape, when we just shaked it a bit, etc.
The solution would be to verify a small period, that the device is turned. That way, the application would determine that retation is needed, if the device is constantly in landscape/portrait mode, for more then (say), ~0.5 second.
That's as opposed to rotating per any tiny, histerical event from the sensor.
This behavior may impact the performance a bit, meaning it would take a bit more to get it rotated, however, it would worth it. Ultimtely, we could configure the sensitivity using UI setting.
Not sure, but I think the N82 demo showed a small lag when rotating. so that may be the reason.
Edit: just watched the N82 demo again. It also shows it gets rotated when setting the device to 180 or 90 degrees. Rotateme however, reotates arround ~135 degrees. that may be too soon and cause rotation when not desired.
if anyone wants the new rotateme signed to work on their phone, pm me.
Bump;
Any idea when this one will actually get released?
According to Samir's website he is aiming to release the unsigned final version at the end of November so hopefully sometime this week. By the way, it seems someone has submitted the 2nd beta to Mosh. I have already reported it but if anyone else would like to, i'm sure they'll take more notice if several complaints arrive
beta 3 released
New functionnalities:
- Fixed some non-working keys bug
- Implementation of the N95's API sensor (instead of 5500)
(don't forget to install N95AccelerometerPlugin.sis)
- Auto-rotation working also when the phone is slanted (and not only upright
as before)
- Auto-rotation at 90 (and no more 45) like N82.
- Auto-rotation stopped when keypad is locked
- No more unwanted rotation when the phone is shaked
Some have reported a very strange and random bug: Sometimes USB connection
stop working, even if rotateMe is closed. You have to uninstall it to fix
this.
This bug is reported on N95 8gb and in the new N95 firmware.
RotateMe is not the only one to cause this, fexplorer seems to do it also.
So I set rotateMe priority to normal by default but, in this beta, you can
change the priority in order to see if some bugs come from here.
But I'm sure that is a bug in the firmware causing a rotateMe
incompatibility.
Coming in next beta (and I hope the last):
- Enable / disable auto start
- Enable / disable auto-rotation with a hotkey
- Setting to set the delay of the desactivation of autorotation
- A new user interface
- Writing the help context
Not so keen on this version. The software isn't sensitive enough to always detect when the phone has been rotated and I sometimes have to give it a little shake to force a rotate. Deactivating once the phone is locked is a big improvement though.
I agree. It definately isn't as sensitive. Double edged sword really cos it now doesn't rotate when I don't want it to but sometimes also doesn't when I do want it to. Basically the opposite of before!
Am I in a totally other-wordly time zone or has the end of november come and gone?

I find that it moves to landscape quite easily (especially if I'm just putting the phone down) but is sometimes quite hard to get it back to portrait, almost needing a flick.

Calm yourself !!
So its missed the suggested release date, big deal!
Considering almost ALL major software releases end up being delayed when there are thousands of people working on them it's not really a surprise that someone doing this in their spare time as a hobby has struggled to get the software out on time. The guys giving it away for free and you can make a donation to receive the Beta version. Don't want to wait ? donate toward the project otherwise just be patient.
regimorales wrote:Am I in a totally other-wordly time zone or has the end of november come and gone?
So what? You DEMAND Samir releases the damn thing? You have a RIGHT?
OMFG...
regimorales wrote:Am I in a totally other-wordly time zone or has the end of november come and gone?
I KNOW! Sheesh! OMFG! What was I thinking? Did I have a right? Surely not I.
I did donate and am using the 3rd beta. I AM patient. You be a patient and go take your chill pill 😊
Yeah, I think the new firmware gave Samir a few more bugs to deal with (the USB connection issue being a big one). I guess this has delayed things a bit.
It's a cracking bit of software,i don't seem to have the problems you guys/gals are having.
My mates are annoyed as my N95 is superior to there 850i because of all the applications available.
I made a donation trough pay pal but I never got the new beta version....
The problem is that I can't find the donators forum to request them to resent confirmation e-mail . I wasn't able to complete my registration.
I realy need the regitration in the forum to receive the e-mail with the beta version ?
I would really like to get a copy of rotate me but have been unable to successfully get it signed. Can someone please help me?

open signed online works for rotate me. google it.
i prefered rotate me more than nokias version on the v30. its just that rotate me drank more battery than making a phone call !! least nok version doesnt kill battery.
