If you look at the devicepages at n-gage.com, under N95-8GB it says "portrait or landscape gaming:

I really hope this is only a typo, but the N95-8GB also has a picture of it in landscape mode (which is with the d-pad on the left like many prefer) - the N95 does not have that picture???
I've got quite a few games on my N95 and they all work perfectly in landscape mode. I prefer landscape mode when using the TV out and my bt keyboard.
The N95 8gB would use the same QVGA landscape skin as the N95 Classic - so I can't see that there could possibly be a problem, if it works on one it will work on the other.

I agree with you, I just find it strange that there's a difference on the n-gage device pages.
It would seem quite impossible; the N95-1 supports landscape mode, and the N95 8GB is no better suited to it than the N95 (compared to the N81, which has extra buttons for gaming). The only reason it wouldn't work would be as a deliberate restriction, but Nokia are trying to sell these games and that would be rather stupid.
Well, I hope you are right - but sometime NOKIA do act rather stupid 😉
