Help with GPS/Network etc please

I have the UK maps downloaded via Nokia downloader, and installed. I have a licence for the voice guidance for the Uk, all works well. The phone has the AGPS which is definetly quicker at getting a fix. I have dissabled network usage from the GPS as the maps are installed and I don't want to pay any more for data as I don't have a plan which includes that. Problem I have is that when roaming overseas, in a country where I have already pre installed the map, I cant get access to a network to get a licence for voice guidance. i have changed the network setting to allow network access, but still fails. although the phone itself works on the roaming OK. What am I doing wrong? Is it just that the country was in doesnt support it.
Also when roaming, tried to access the web via normal phone network, and the N95 keeps asking fo a connection to use, the only option it gives is WLAn (none in range unfortunatel) or the Uk phone provider I am with. this would be OK in the UK but being overseas it should use whichever network I am roaming on at the time. I have done this with other phones (motorola etc)with out a problem overseas but cant get the N95 to allow access to the roaming network for anythinh other that normal phone calls, Help !!???

When roaming you should still use the Access Point of your home operator. The network you are roaming on will recognise it (assuming it has an agreement with your operator) and let you connect.

I suspect this may also solve your first problem.

bear in mind you may have just bought navigation for the UK, not for every other country in the world (depends - you may have got European too).

Thanks for the quick reply, I only have license for UK, but wished to purchase the license for the other country when I was there, but as I said it wouldn't connect. Will have to wait till the next trip to see if your suggestion works.
