i recently bought a unlocked UK version Nokia E90 from Carphone Warehouse. It has firmware version 07.24.0.3 and when i connect to nokia software updater it says i have the latest software so it won't let me get the latest 07.40.1.2 firmware.
My product code is 0552464.
Has anyone in the UK with a UK version Nokia E90 been able to update their firmware to the latest version or is everyone with a UK version Nokia E90 having the same problem as me and can't can't update to 07.40.1.2 firmware?
I've got the same product code, though having read the reports on the update, I'm not sure it's really worth bothering with. But then I never updated my 9210s or my 9500.
I'd say it's definitely worth upgrading fom A-GPS alone.
Radically changes the experience of using the internal GPS.
I live in Vancouver Canada. I just returned from the UK last night. I have a unlocked E90 product code same as yours, purchased from Clove Tech. In Bournmouth (Aug 3). While in Glasgow I took it into the Official Nokia service place. I asked them to update the firmware. (Same as yours). They told "there is no firmware available for that product #I have the latest" So they just gave it back to me. I have had no problems so far with the device. So I am just waiting and watching.
Hope this helps.
I've just received an E90 from O2.
It's Product Code is 0553342, and I can't update either!! I'll be phoning O2 tomorrow to ask what they're going to do about it, as I don't want to start transferring stuff from my 9500, and downloading other stuff, in case it all gets wiped out in a future upgrade.
Is your phone a branded one? Mine was O2 and I could not update either. The branded versions have different product codes to the unbranded ones and the latest firmware releases are targetted at unbranded ones.
The prod code for the real unbranded UK mocca is 0533332.
I re-programmed my product code to the above using NSS and then using Nokia Software Updater (NSU) it loaded the latest firmware. My phone is now "pure" with no branding.
However. As the software updater warns this may invalidate warranty etc. I guess if u want the latest firmware or to remove branding then that is the penalty.
This thread gives info on how to do this (from the perspective of changing the firmware in order to switch language) but the procedure is the same. There are other posts that explain how to use NSS etc more fully.
