N95 8GB - Music player quality better than the original N95?

Hi guys,

This is probably one for those that have upgraded from an original N95 to the 8gb. How is the quality of the music player comparatively? I know the original N95 is good, but it isnt as good as say the N76, N91, or even the N81. And since the N81 was released simultaneously with the N95 8gb, I was hoping that the music quality was upgraded (though it doesnt look likely, since essentially it has mostly the same hardware as the original) 😞

Any input would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Music quality between the N95-1 & N95 8GB, using Etymotic ER-4Ps, is *identical* as far as I can tell.

Unfortunately, the quality of the "Music Player" (the application itself) is a lot worse 😞

I'm not surprised.. I don't think that any of the electronics had changed, outside adding more RAM and changing the microSD slot for Flash memory.

thanks for the info 😊 ah well.. i guess thats expected, it being identical.. so much for hoping otherwise..

the application is worse? really? how so?? i didnt think it would be much different that the current one..

It can (and often does) take much longer to start the app up (progress bar is displayed for some time), deleting a track takes ages (30 seconds) and refresh can take minutes if it feels like it.

But small improvements include showing the "Now playing" track on the top-most menu and being able to "wrap" the cursor from top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top of the artist & track lists.

Overall though, I MUCH prefer the N95 8GB version to the N95-1. If they sorted the music player problems, it is as damn near the perfect phone as I can imagine 😊

Actually my experience is exactly the same re the app is your Voda branded? also can you delete an Album from the Music Player i can delete tracks but not the Album folder again i am hoping this is a Voda problem. Although on formatting i suddenly had 7.66gb of free space Which is a lot more than when i got it which i think was 6.1gb.

Sound wise i would say the Music player is no different but have just started using my Albums from iTunes @256kbps M4a as opposed to 160kbps AAC from the Nokia Media Manager. Using the same Shure EC2g headphones the sound is good enough for me to sell my iPod.
