Plain text editing on the E90 and E61i

It's not every day that a reader points out a utility that I've never even heard of. In this case, thanks to Garvin for pointing out LightNotepad, a freeware plain text editor for S60 3rd Edition. It works on any device, but is especially useful for editing HTML, javascript and other text-based languages on keyboard-equipped devices like the Nokia E90 and E61i. Grab it now! What's that? You can't speak Finnish? You need the English page then 8-)

Oh, that looks great. I've been searching for something like this for a while, and concluded there was nothing out there.

The best I found (which isn't bad, but isn't free) is the text editor included with X-plore from Lonely Cat Games (which I'd recommend anyway, apart from the usual dodgy colour scheme).

Steve, is it possible for you to post screenshots of the program as i dont have a S60.3 device with me.. Also does it support keyboard shortcuts for copy paste etc.. ?

Here's a couple of shots on my 5500 (so can't comment on keyboard shortcuts). The text is the help text that the editor comes with.

(I was quicker on the screencapture 😉 )

On the e90, the ctrl-X, ctrl-c and ctrl-v shortcuts work okay. No ctrl-s shortcut, and haven't tried any others yet.

no find facility. even if it is limited to a 200k file then a search is very important. other than that a very nice little editor. without that will have to stick to easyedit or quickoffice on my e61i.

Hello ,

I found better even it's beta stage 😊 But it's a very promising editor for programming !

I'm talking about DEdit 0.9

features :

advanced search : casesensite, whole word
plenty of shortcuts with green key (press green key release it press other key !)
very intuitive !
green + Up : page up
green + down : page down
green+# : begin/end of file
green + Left : begin of line
green + right : end of line

advanced selection
bookmark add : green+2
goto to bookmark : green + 3

remember last file (history)
save cursor position
show non-printable characters
word wrapping on/off

And this editor is free : found on dimonvideo

Sorry but I haven't enough post for posting THE link 😞
