After upgrading the firmware I noticed that the PTT function was there. I assume this is not supported ny the networks across here as it was previously available but how does it work and is it likely to be supported in the UK? I know it's widely used in the US.
Ptt?
Its been available to the Uk networks for years, but so far as I know none of them have picked it up as they are concerned about revenue loss from it....
Cos they don't get enough money from us alreadly. 🙄

Indeed, why allow people to use this feature when they could make you call people (and charge you) instead 😡

welcome to rip off britain...
but... it is a business at the end of day.
It's a shame cos I think that would be a cool feature, especially for things like convoys

10-4 good buddy 😊
this is rubber ducky going for a 10-100 in the sandbox
Exactly. Imagine the fun
I thought I'd seen something about orange running PTT on a few handsets, mostly looked like gash phones though. I'm sure I saw it in the magazine they have in their shops
On the website they seem to call it "Talk now" but it went business only a year ago, and they charged for it! Can't see any sign of it on the business site.

It is fun, I use a Tetra handset and use the private call function (like PTT) to contact colleuges when in a convoy, can have a right laugh with it. Also legal too (as its been used as a radio rather than a phone) while driving.

Where is the PTT function? I can't see the option? And does this work like a walkie talkie??? Sorry for the noobish questions, lol.

It has been removed by Voda. Its not supported by them anyway on their network. AFAIK Orange are the only network to support it and I think thats on PAYG only anyway.
Nokia developed the function with the idea that it would be free or small cost to use. Operators see that this could lose them money and so disable it through their handsets and thier network. Even if it was enabled on the handset, they have disabled it on the network
