Hi,
I'm looking at getting an N95 8GB because my contract runs out in 5 days with O2. The trouble is I really like being with O2 and don't want to change networks because I find the customer service and network second to none.
But I have just been informed they won't be doing the 8GB at all. So what do I do? What other networks do the 8GB? Or is there a way of getting the 8GB on O2 through any other company?
You could do what I did. With my 6110.
Stay with 02 and get the contract you want.
Get the best phone possible.
Sell the phone.
Get the N95 8GB by other means.
Not ideal, but if you really dont want to leave 02 its possibly the best solution.
Yeah that's not a bad idea, I would get the N95 and swap it for the 8GB but unfortunately the N95s are going for around 260 and the 8GB for about 450 so that's nearly 200 difference! D'oh!
Yeah but chances are you would have to pay that anyway.
I havent looked at the 8GB version on any contracts, but I bet its not free unless you get a 50 + a month one.
I'd change network. I was on O2 before and had no problems with them but when I wanted the N95 and unlimited data they couldn't do either so I switched to T-Mobile. I have actually found them to be much better than O2 and you can, obviously, port your number
I'd just get the N95-1 and treat yourself to an 8Gb card!

Or hold out for a few more months and get the N82

I'm in the same situation, but not in a million years would I go to another network specially to Vodafone. I hate them, worst customer service ever :icon13:
I'm patiently waiting for the N95-2 to come out on O2 in the new year (got my tariff down to the simplicity for the time being) O2 have been great to me, no complaints from me. T-mobile are ok but I have very bad signal with them at home.
Look at it this way.....if you get it from O2 then the phone will be unlocked and not branded like vodafone, orange etc along with some good deals. 😉

Don't confuse those two though, unbranded and unlocked are very different things. Unlocked means you can use it on any network, with any sim card (No network will give you a phone in that state) while unbranded just means the firmware will not have any network-specific customisations.
Incidentally O2 do brand the firmware, it's just very minimal unlike the bloated themes of vosafone and orange. T-Mobile's is also very minimal, in fact just a different icon for the web browser app. And don't forget, it is VERY easy to switch to an unbranded firmware anyway
I'm happy with my N95 8GB on Vodaphone. The 3.5G is spectacular, and £7.50 for 120MB hours is better than the silly £3 a MB O2 charge.
Got my phone unlocked for an extra £30 so can use it with other SIMs abroad too.
Love this phone, but still feels a bit flimsy like the old N95.
Unlocked for 30? Have vodafone raised the unlocking prices, it was 20 last time I did it.

Vodafone?? Raise prices??? Surely not! 😉

I'm pretty sure o2 phones are unlocked as I've had Orange and Vodaphone SIMs in them without any problem. One of the reasons I've stayed with o2 since they were first established as Genie.
My previous phone (N91) was on O2 and that was locked. Perhaps you got lucky
I get my phones from o2 online so don't know if that makes any difference.

I cant complain about them. After moaning at them about my contract (which they did mislead me really), I ended up getting 125 mins and 500 texts along with 120MB a month for 25.

Hi,
I'm aware of the differences...
O2 are the ONLY network that give you UNLOCKED phones on a monthly contract.
I agree with you that O2 do brand their phones but very minimal.
O2 also dont put a network logo on the phone unlike T-mobile, Voda, Orange & 3.

I'm in a similar situation. On O2 Select, have been able to upgrade from my N95-1 since October 1st, but sat waiting for N95 8GB or N82.
I like O2 and the fact that they don't butcher their handsets, so I'm gonna sit tight until I can upgrade. The N95-1 isn't that bad, so I'm sure I can live with it for a couple of months longer.
:icon14: you can upgrade to a Nokia N95 8GB on an 12 month O2 contract at http://www.theorder.co.uk/o2/upgrades/deals/Nokia/N95%208GB/O2-Upgrade
Has anyone bought the *N95 8GB Black* from this site?
http://www.theorder.co.uk/o2/upgrades/deals/Nokia/N95%208GB/O2-Upgrade
How are they? are they reliable?
Thanks. :icon14:
Forgive my ignorance, I don't live in the UK, though given all the contracts and such, wouldn't it actually work out cheaper in the end to just buy an unlocked phone outright? You might get a nice shiny N82 right now on contract, though it seems as though all you are really doing is just getting a high interest loan with the phone company in order to have it today - at the end of the contract you pay a good chunk more than if you just buy it.
I'm in the Philippines, the N95-8GB brand new is about 280 pounds if you shop with cash at the markets, about 10 or 20 pounds extra with warranty.
For about 20 pounds per month you can also have a completely unlimited data plan.
I really thought you guys had it much cheaper over that way.

I see your point......:icon14:
But I'm sure I will be getting the handset free from O2 when it comes out. As I will be upgrading my contract with them (been with O2 a very long time.)
I don't spend much on my phone bills. The minutes & texts in my price plan cover my usage.
As you may know that here in the UK Vodafone has the N95 8GB exclusive to them until the new year.
People like me don't want a contract with them cause they are too expensive, branding the phones, very bad customer service etc...(some may disagree...but this is my view)
😉
Cheers, didn't know that the telco's had exclusives like that in the UK 😊
I've not bought from the site, just stumbled across it through a mass of google searches looking for info on this handset coming to O2. i'm waiting to see what happens in january when money is not quite as tight as it is so close to crimbo! voda wont have exclusivity to this handset in the UK in the new year so should see it available on at least one of the other networks then. i hope it comes to O2 via O2 on line and not a 3rd party company. As for the order website; I called O2 select account customer services and asked them how come I can upgrade to the phone I want on this 3rd party website but I cannot do that with O2 directly. They said they had heard of this company and said that they are their own entity meaning if you decide to upgrade on this website your calls will still be placed on the O2 network as normal however billing/collection of payments and customer services etc will all be done by this company. Obviously this means if you are also an O2 on line customer you will no longer be able to view bills on line unless the order offer a similar sort of service to O2 and if you are a select account customer you will no longer have access to the benefits there either!

It doesn't really matter, that is way too expensive when you can get the handset for free from a Vodafone shop on a 35 quid for 12 months contract if you're lucky.
No one can want to stay on O2 that badly.
Hi guys, i work for O2 online customer service, i just found out that the 8GB black model WILL be released on O2 from 31st Dec
