1. When i turn-off my phone or the battery was drained, everytime i open my phone, it always asking me to input time and date.
2. Can't view logs, or when i press call, it doesnt show the list of last dialed numbers.
hardware problem or software problem? does anyone have the same problem?
i'm at fw v12.0.013
I would say it's the power circuit. The behaviour you describe is like what happens when you totally drain the power. Normally it will hold enough charge to keep the memory working (time etc) but it seems that yours is allowing itself to drain completely.
Mine was doing something similar and I had to take it to a service center (who then sent it off to Nokia) for repair
urm, on board battery.... maybe needs changing... ?
My N95 has the forgetting date/time problem as well. Take it to your nearest Nokia service centre - it'd still be under warranty and you can get it sorted for free I believe.
Just need to find some time to do the same myself......
Actually, just remembered reading somewhere else that, someone with the same problem took his phone to the servicen centre but they couldn't fix it, so he just got a replacement instead. Wouldn't mind that too much myself... 😊
Oh, and it's definitely hardware fault, but something that developed, rather than came with the phone. I've tried soft reset, hard reset, three finger salute, reflashing, borrowing another battery, changing SIM card, etc..... basically, the next step would be getting my hammer out...
shux... that's too bad for me, mine doesnt have a warranty... i guess i'll be selling my n95 soon, but it's just a minor problem, i can live with it... but it is sad to know that the problem is a faulty hardware... ouch...
thanks guys! 😊
if you obtained the phone "legitimately" then pretty much any Nokia service center will fix it .. if you don't have proof of purchase that still ought not be an impediment.
Take it to a Nokia center and ask .. nothing to lose! 😊

Unless it isn't legit in which case they will run the IMEI, find its been reported stolen and call the police!
I bought it legally, here in the Philippines you can buy cheaper phones without warranties (Nokia Philippines), "gray market", sold as is at cheaper price.
You know the "Limited" warranty of Nokia, you can only claim your phone's warranty on the country you originally bought the unit 😊 which i dont know where it was originated 😊
How long have you had the phone? See if the person/store who sold it to you would be able to replace it.
@regimorales: sadly, no warranties has been issued 😞 but hopefully nokia can fix this problem. without taking the phone to the service center
My N95 have the same problem of reset time and date everytime restarted last weekend.
I suggest you try with other SIM card to see if the same issue exist. What I did to my N95 was; use another SIM from the same network and it reboot with no problem. Clean the other SIM card chip. Restart with no problem until today. If the other SIM card can reboot with no problem but your own SIM still shows the same problem, get your SIM replace.
It happenned again to my N95 last night. I did the same thing, change the SIM card but this time I tried with my data card SIM which is a supplementary to my phone SIM. It doesnt work! Then I use a another SIM from another network provider, it boot with a correct time and date. Put back my own SIM, it work.
Network Operator time .. on
Tools/settings/general/date and time/ network operator time ..
maybe that will help?😊
@Bareen31: we dont have a data sim card here 😞
@seki: the problem still occur...
and how about my log problem? anyone have an idea how to fix it?
sell it to someone else .. make it their problem ..
Buy another one WITH A WARRANTY .. I still find it bizarre that you buy a branded phone any-place in the world and some-how that brand can buy off its responsibilities.
You might be better off buying one from HongKong at least you know its genuine (I'm not completely satisfied that the ones being sold to you in the Philippines are .. )
Good luck!😊
@seki: i'm thinking to sell it... but so far the number 2 problem has been resolve last night, i re-update my phone, and the logs are now working again.
the time and date problem still occurs... 😞
@Bareen31: i forgot to mention the other problem, does your display "Contact Service" something message whenever your phone is charging and trying to open/boot up? the message display after the Nokia-Handshake bootup image, can you check? thank you

Time and date prob occurred right after the handshake, no other message. I had restarting my phone a couple of time since the last time/date reset, so far it didnt happen the last 24hrs but I am still monitoring the situation...... I just reboot it again, it just went thru OK.
whenever i plug-in my charger the boot up my phone the message "Phone Start-up Failed. Contact The Retailer" appears, but when i unplug the charger, the time/date problem occurs and the phone is working
what a wierd n95 it is hahaha
