QuickOffice Premier - Is it worth it?

Right the version of QuickOffice that came with my E90 is now becomming far too annoying to be usable. Is it worth the upgrade? My main gripes are the lack of word counter and the absence of keyboard shortcuts, the switching between view and edit mode thing is excessively pointless and irritating (ctrl+up/down/left/right anyone?). I see the new version has a spellchecker (not that I need it much, though while learning the new keyboard it could be handy), is a word count added, what about the "Keyboard shortcuts" it claims to have added, are they the selection that's sorely missing after using "Documents/Office" since 2000 it feels far too cut down for me.

If not is there any alternative word processor that has similar functionality to the old apps? I've got better word processors on my Atari ST at the moment.

I would also like to know that too. If it is worth the upgrade?
I noted in quickmanager that if you purchase using it, it gives you a 50% discount on the purchase BUT it only states version 4 NOT ver4.5.

Is this a lower version and does it mean I need to purchase again to get v4.5?

Well that looks rather good, no mention of keyboard shortcuts but the manual makes it seem to do all I need and more. Now to get the demo and see if it will open word documents as saved by my 9500, unlike QuickOffice which cries.

Have to say Steve's review was excellent!

Note: NO word count, and no word wrap either!

I upgraded soon after I got my E90, and have found 4.5 to be fast and efficient for my limited requirements - mainly accessing Word & Excel documents out in the field for reference, but I almost always create & modify on the laptop & transfer to a 2Gb card in the E90, so I can't add much about the editing side. I live & die by Windows Explorer and find the File Manager element to be excellent.

The only problem I'm having with the E90 at present is that it seems to like to "lock up" when switching on - by that I mean the Nokia whitescreen just stays, and doesn't progress to the Pin screen! Having been used to WinMo, resets are 2nd nature, but I seem to only be able to achieve these by removing the battery on the E90, and it doesn't always work either! Also find this type of reset often refreshes the signal strength from 0 to something usable too - has anyone else had these experiences?

One thing to be aware of is that the version of OfficeSuite that comes with the E90 supports printing. QuickOffice 4.5 doesn't. So, if you think you'll need to print directly from the E90 then either don't upgrade, or wait for it to get reintroduced (in version 5???)

Alternatively, leave QuickOffice as supplied for printing, and add OfficeSuite if its editing capabilities meet your requirements.

Fortunately I don't print from the E90, and use my laptop for that. OpenDocument format compatability would be nice in new versions seeing it's an ISO standard, that and I use OpenOffice for document editing on my laptop.

Switchblade,

Where did you get to with this analysis? Do you have a recommendation now QO 5.0 vs Mobi Office suite?

Has anybody else looked at both and reached a view?

Thanks,

Tomahawk

I've had major car issues so haven't been able to afford to buy either. The demo of Mobi Office was great and gave all the functionality I was after. Unfortunately the demo time is up so it won't save, so I'm having to write in QO then open it in Mobi to do word counts lol.
