tomtom needs a gps receiver ... cant be bothered to carry that around too. Ive naivigated with route66 in uk usa and europe, all been excellent. Can;t ask for anything more.

Could ask for better routes and better instructions. And this is on version 8 with the latest maps :frown:

I just tried route66 for the first time, and I miss tomtom, i hope they release a new one with internal gps support. I HATE route 66!

Me too, just tried it tonight and it thought i was on a road about 2 miles from the one i was actually on :laugh:

Well my opinion is if Tomtom was so much the mutts nuts how come they still havent got it working with internal receiver surely they would have been first to :tongue:
I have never used tomtom but have used route66 for a couple of years and must say I have found it reliable just a couple of months ago used it to take me 1500 miles from uk to spain and had no probs with it

You people honestly cant complain about route66 as some (most) of you have got it for free and there is no usage cost. If its showing your location a 2 miles from where you really are then its not route66 but your internap GPs receiver

I definatly paid for mine (like *ALL* my software), and quite frankly its not good enough.

When it takes routes much longer/further than tomtom navigator 5, which is a very old version with old maps, you get second thoughts as to its reliability. Not too mention the issue it has with corners and voice guidance.

Oh, and postcodes. Ive no idea what database they used, but its not as good as the one on the 2 years old tomtom :frown:

Don't make assumptions, especially casting dispersions on us that we are all pirates (Arrr, how dare ye)!
Route66 is, at best, all right but compared to the user friendliness and accuracy of TomTom it is lagging behind.

@fiddles: TomTom not supporting internal GPS doesn't make the functionality poor, which is what we are talking about, and if you have never used it then you can't really comment on that. If your happy with Route66 then stick with it and avoid TomTom because it will reveal Route66's weaknesses

You are right about the internal GPS, IMO they could have released a patch for it (But I'm not a programer, so don't know for sure) but my guess is they would rather sell more of the new version rather than patch for free. TBH I don't like that in a company, they should be looking after existing customers as well, but there we go...

I have also bought both Route66 and Tomtom 6 and I agree that Route66 is very good, but Tomtom just seems better, probably as it's more customisable.

Very true houndog, but I find that simple navigation is always better with tomtom too.

In fact, all other functions aside, tomtom have the best navigation out of them all apart from navigon.

I dont really agree with tomtom witholding a patch and making us wait till the next version, but ho hum.

I keep getting a resource file missing error... any ideas? thanks...

I am a new N95 user and the maps dont work properly.

Is this Route 66 different.

I was thinking about removing what is on my phone and using this one.

Any help is appreciated.
