I have a plum N95 i bought from O2 store a couple of months ago and the firmware is version 11.0.026. I have noticed other guys on here with the same O2 phone with V12 firmware installed when bought, however, when I try the updater is says mine is the latest?
I realise that I can update by changing the code etc etc, but if their new phones are supplied with V12, why are existing owners not permitted to upgrade :frown:
Righty then, I have been putting off upgrading (code change) since I got it thinking O2 would eventually catch up, now I cant be arsed to wait any longer. Whats putting me off is the pissing around reinstalling all the apps and contacts ect, I know I could backup, but is it right that by changing the code and upgrading, then restoring it flocks things up? or am I just being a lazy sod?
One other thing, I use mine on T-Mobile, are they supplying V12? and if so can I "rebrand" mine to their network?
Any suggestions, thoughts, insults, or porn would be appreciated 😎
im having the same ideas - would aprreciate any advice given!
From what I gather if you back up your phone, debrand then restore, the "branded" settings mess up the phone as its now an "unbranded" phone. All you can do is to restore your contacts/calander/notes etc.
If you can find the product code for the T-mobile version then change the product code (noting down your original) with NSS and check for updates on the Nokia updater, then there is your answer re if the have V12. If there is no V12 for T-mobile either then either change the code back to original or to the generic unbranded code available on this site somewhere.
Have a look at http://clear-nokia.blogspot.com/2007/05/nokia-n95-debranding-guide.html

I have just changed product code on my N95 8GB (voda branded) to the Euro1 code. I am going to update the FW tommorow when I have a broadband connection, in hotel on a GSM connection at the moment.
Dont forget to warn them that if they brick their phone by changing product code that it may invalidate your warranty.
As for no V12 on 02 that's because the phone networks have to ok it for release and make sure it full works well that's the excuse anyway. Anyway V12 has a few flaws especially relating to slow response from keys when texting.
Thats my N95 8Gb de-branded and FW updated. All the voda stuff removed (although not that much), Internet Telephone is there and more stuff under the download icon now. Set up MMS/Web etc and working fine.
