I've setup gmail on my N95. Gmail can use IMAP which is great.
But I noticed all the email (headers) downloaded to the phone are marked as unread, even the ones that are marked as read on the server. Other clients, like thunderbird on my PC do download them marked as read.
To further the frustration there's an option to mark all messages and to mark as unread but there's no option to mark as read.
Phone's software version is 12.0.013.
The inbuilt email client is pretty pants, which is why I use Profimail. Much better way to handle mail. Supports IMAP, POP3, mark all/some/ read/unread, user defined interval polling of mailbox, addressbook, sigs, customisable filters. The list goes on.

Besides that I would prefer something free 😉
And I fully agree on the buildin email client being crap 😃
I'll nose around what alternatives are available. This symbian stuff is all pretty new for me.
