I have a 2 year old Netgear router, and the N95 was always unreliable using it.
However as soon as I updated the FW in the Router my N95 connections became rock solid.
I recommend you check you are on the latest router firmware...

Yesterday I turned off power saving in the wifi advanced settings and that seems to have cured itfor the time being......:icon14: Well, it hasnt repeated the fault anyway😊

Anyone thinking it's ok to restore the backup of an older firmware onto a new, should try telling that to a renowned backup developer, like SpriteSoftware. All the ressources they have spent on trying to overcome that kind of restoring, like taking snapshots of individual firmwares for individual devices, and then people think it doesn't matter? 😊

wow v20 firmware is much faster for most things!!

the Burst mode in camera now works, and you can hold down button to take a photo every second untill your memory card fills up! for some reason theres also a 'grid' function whilst taking photos, to help you center/align your target...

wifi printer finding also works better, it now sees "photosmart 2570" instead of "printer" and gives more options

Quite a lot of people seem to find this annoying. Go to Tools >Settings >General >Personalisation >Standby. There are options to turn active standby on and off, edit the shortcuts and active standby applications.

Although not a perfect update this is pretty comprehensive and well done. As a new migrant from Sony Ericsson (booo) who I got fed up of never updating anything and frankly treating their customors like s**t (I was waiting for the w960i which was scheduled for September, then October, November, December then finally delayed till end of Jan for no better reason than avoiding I-Phone competition, how much product confidence and loyalty to their customers does that show?) I'm pretty impressed with Nokia who used to have poorly designed and tacky feeling phones but have completely changed this.

BTW how do I change the wireless power saver settings?!

tools / settings / Connection / wireless lan / options .. advanced settings (ignore warning) .. scroll down .. while you're there .. change the TX power level to 10mW or 4 if you sit pretty close to your Access Point most of the time ..

Good Luck!😊

Whatever works for you is cool. 😉

I simply wanted to make folks aware that lots of users have experience problems in the past by restoring a backup after a FW flash.

Usual problems are things going missing, functionality disabled or unreliable.

If you do experience such problems, simply format the phone memory with *#7370# then re-install all your apps manually.

Just changed from O2 to Euro1 and upgraded to v20 must say so far am real inpressed with the changes.

Hi,

Three questions from me:
1. How do I check my memory after startup?
2. How do I check my product code?
3. How do I change my product code?

Thanks,
Nic

I've noticed 3.5G in the corner when I'm on the 'net'. I take it that it is using a faster connection???

And also when I watch a vid in the gallery I can fast forward/backward through the film. Im very happy with this new firmware. Thank you Nokia 😊

Shows you are in a HSDPA connection area😊

I know that, but on the Eseries phones you can choose what you want active standby to show. You can turn the WLAN view off independently to the calendar etc.

And there is a well known and classic difference between the E-series and the N-series, where in the latter, you can't.

Maybe it's hardward dependant, but I very much doubt it. In which case I don't see why they can't add that to the Nseries.

1. Using an app called Handy TaskMan
2. Little white label under the battery
3. By using "Nemesis".

Steve_R wrote:Shows you are in a HSDPA connection area😊

Actually it shows when you are receiving/transmitting data in HSDPA mode, when connected but not transmitting or receiving data it only shows "3G"

I dont know if anyone has noticed or it has been mentioned before but with v20 the date is displayed on the screensaver when you are in profiles other than general!!! WOO!

dez_borders wrote:NEVER EVER restore a backup file after upgrading FW.

You can safely use PC Suite Synchronisation app but don't restore a backup

I restored from a back-up, made on my N95: no problems at all!

Some programs I had to reInstall, but had this also with upgrading to v12!
