N95 8GB & firmware update - preserves unlocking?

I'm pretty sure that this will be okay, but I wanted to check with you gurus first.

I'm getting a Vodafone N95 8GB very soon, which I want to use on O2. I'm going to pay Vodafone to undo the SIM lock, but my question is whether this unlocked status will persist after I install the new firmware that's just been released?

I'm planning to change the product code before I install the firmware so that I can de-brand it at the same time.

Any particular order in which I should do things? e.g. unlock first, then update, or update first, then unlock?

Thanks all.

You may have been confused by reading about.. certain other phones, where the manufacturer has a special deal with particular networks where they get a cut of your call costs and would rather you didn't change network. Nokia couldn't care less, they're not going to go about re-locking your phone.

Quite right, and it doesn't matter what order you do things in.

Thanks all. Answers my question.

Arybak: thanks for your answer - I'm aware of this - rather I was asking whether having already done a SIM unlock, the firmware update might mess with it.

Cheers all.
