Route 66 on Nokia N95 - no voice guidance

Hi there everyone,

Just wondering anyone can help.

I have recently installed Route 66 V7.3.545 on my N95 - everything works fine including using N95's inbuilt GPS.

The problem I have was that there is no voice guidance - complete silent. I have check volume setting and turn volume to maximum and have check that mute was off but still no sound.

I have also checked and ensure that file british.ogg exists in folder \system\apps\route66\speech - I have even downloaded a new copy of this file and copied in the same folder replacing the original file without luck.

Please help - thank you in advance.

Make sure the phones general profile is active before loading up route 66, quite a common mistake. i had to find it out for myself

Are you upgrading from version .486?

I had this problem myself. This advice will be from memory as I no longer have Route 66 on my phone, using Navicore instead, so appologies if I get the directorys wrong but you'll get the picture.

Use x-plore or similar on your phone to Navigate to the System\Apps\Route66 folder on your memory card. There should be a folder under there called Voices or Speech or similar. Copy this folder and put it into the exact same location but on your phone, i.e. System\Apps\Route66\

With a little luck this will have solved your problem.

Many thanks to all who responded.

1. I have installed V7.3.545 as new installation (i.e. I did not upgrade from previous version).

2. Phone profile was active.

3. \system\apps\route 66\speech folder does exist together with ogg sound files.

I have since installed Garmin Mobile XT - application works great with inbuilt GPS and it does have voice guidance. The only thing I have found was that onscreen navigation is not smooth - it felt like the navigational arrow stuck on-screen seconds at a time and therefore, give you the inpression that map has frozen and application hung but the suddenly, it goes again...etc. I am not exactly sure what caused this behaviour.

Anyone care to comment.

in system\apps\route66 you need to delete a file called prefs.ini. restart route 66 and voice will work. weird but it works.

i suggest installing it onto your memory card not phone memory. I had the same problem and reinstalled it and the voice navigation works now. Hope that helps
