Have I gone mad or has the option to shrink a photo been removed from the options in the gallery?
Of course, even if it has been removed, it doesn't necessarily mean I haven't gone mad anyway.

You're right, it's gone. I never used it anyway, mind.
It was a useful option, because it saved RAM when setting a standby-screen-picture..
You can shrink it in Googles Picasa and load it back
to your phone..
That is a shame, as it was a feature I often used.
Maybe it's now the same as the N95 8GB, in which case it is under:
"Options" - "Edit" - "Options" - "Apply effect" - "Resize"
