Question for users of Debranded Orange n95's

I'm considering debranding my Orange n95 to get the benefits of the lastest firmware but have a question for those who have done this already.

Can you still access your personal page on Orange World? I quite often use the "your account" page on the Orange World portal to view how many remaining mins/texts/inclusive Mb I have left and loosing this feature would be a pain.

How does the phone get the Internet settings? Does it read them from the sim card? I've noticed the "Orange Internet" settings are protected, so I can't write them down before the upgrade.

Any information on this would be appreciated. Thanks. 😊

I've debranded mine and it all works fine. I used the EURO1 plum code. If you use line 2 on Orange then don't update just yet as it is not supported in the current release.

Yes Orange world works fine, and it gets all the setting over the air when it first logs onto the network I believe. I have never had to enter any settings, it just works😊

Mirg - I'm in exactly the same position as you and am considering exploring the scary debranding route for the first time with my Orange N95. Let me know how you get on!

Did the debranding and firmware upgrade earlier this evening. Went smoothly, as Steve_R said Orange world works fine - including my account information. It even has a bookmark for Orange World. The first time I connected it took a long time, but subsequent attempts have been fine.

I used product code 0536062 (Euro 1 Plum).

Your Page is based on the mobile phone number your connecting rather than the handset or settings on it 😊

Thanks for the info.

I wasn't sure, because on my old SPV M5000 after updating the firmware to a custom version, the Orange World stuff stopped working. This was a few years ago however.

I debranded my orange handset and it was the best thing I could have done.

DO IT!!!

I'm pretty sure that it picks up settings from your SIM card. If, for some reason, it doesn't, you should be able to go to the Orange webpage and have them sent to you as an SMS.

Yes, works fine!

This thread by 3Shirts http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/67122/ is excellent for detail on how to change the code - it really should be incorporated into the one that is sticky!

I was hoping that the extra RAM afforded by the demand paging might let me run Monkey Island 3 in ScummVm - sadly not (!) - but all the other improvements are worth it. Anyone similarly in two minds should definitely give it a go!

im having trouble with this!!!

when i run nss i search for my phone it finds loads of bumpf then i go to phone info then i click read then at this point in the bottom left hand corner it says
"reading value's error"

what should i do?????
