as it says my WLAN is only letting me use one or the other?when my phone is connected my pc still shows it is connected but not properly as it will not browse or anything? and when my pc is connected my phone finds the WLAN but when i try to use it it says "no gateway reply" i hate WLAN's already!
WLAN only allows phone "or" pc to be connected???
Sounds like some kind of setting on the router. Was the router supplied by your ISP? If so, ring them about it.
Check the DHCP settings on the router to make sure there are sufficent DHCPable addresses for the number of devices your connecting.
yes it all seems ok. it is doing my head in getting the no gateway reply message now. it says it is connected though?
It sounds like your router is only allowing one client connection through your wireless. You could either set your laptop/pc or your phone or both to use a static IP on your network to go around any DHCP restrictions.
could you tell me how?i am ok with computers but not to sure about that.just roughly if you could
when i go to connect it says internet: server not found. does that shed any light?
Well you're not getting to any webpage because you're not getting through your gateway (router) to a DNS server to find the webpage, Therefore, there is no server reply from the site you are trying to navigate to.
On your pc open internet explorer or the browser and type in 192.168.1.1 and hit enter (do not put http:// infront of 192.168.1.1) if you do not get a login prompt asking for user name and password, then try 192.168.0.1.
You should get a login prompt and you would put in admin as the username and you could try the following for the passwords as well as leaving it blank:
admin
password
test
12345
Admin (notice capital A)
If you can get in, look for wireless settings somewhere and then look for dhcp server and enable it if it's not already. If it is, make sure it's not only assigning an address to one client. It might allow you to enable dhcp server for X amoutn of clients or it might say "starting IP range" and "ending IP range" in which case you'd have a starting of 192.168.*.100 and ending of 192.168.*.101 (this will allow two connections requesting DHCP) the * indicates whichever IP you used to login into the router with 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. Save your settings and try again on your phone with you pc connected. If this does not work let me know and we'll go through setting up your phone with a static IP scheme.
i think i need more ip addresses? think my router might only be giving out 1 which my pc is using?
Then change your pc to use a static ip.
For some reason I cannot see your private message, when i try to get to it i'm told that "your administrator has disabled private messaging..." wonderful.
