-AOL/MSN/Yahoo instant messaging
-Web browsing
-IRC

other than web browsing, you need 3rd party apps for those functions afaik.
As ares mentioned, for IRC and messengers you'll need 3rd party software. Nothing to worry about, there's alot of freewares for that.
