So try it out fock's
Post a reply i you need help/info an how to,,,,
Why are you peddling cracked software on AAS?
Uhh then u would lose some status here huh 😊
If it wasent four you buying and testing it lol
Like this is the only forum! And it's now even a good one :icon2:
Old fart's made me laf 😮
Cheers
Its nothing to do with my 'status', people have done *much* better reviews than I have. Its more the fact that I beleive stuff should be paid for. Time and effort goes into developing software, and the more people like you that use cracked stuff, the less likely the makers are to bother next time.
I buy software for *me*, not for anyone else. But since there wasnt what I was looking for in the first place, I may as well do a review. Reviews of symbian satnav software are not easy to come by.
Is tomtom deliberatly holding back the new version because the old ones were widely cracked? Are they having to work on a new encryption method? Are they even going to bother releasing a new version for PDAs/symbian? And if they do, we are likely to have to go through an even more annoying registration process.
Its not so much different from shoplifting really. And dont use the old 'I wouldnt buy it anyway' argument. If there wasnt cracked satnav available, people would buy the proper versions.
Anyway, perhaps you missed the rules of the forum, and a recent reminder by Rafe not to peddle cracked software? If its on other forums, use those forums eh?
I can see some handbag throwing here lol. I am sure satnav has been discussed else where? I bought Garmin XT at a very resoniable price, but still not as good as Tomtom. Just wish they would hurry up and bring out a solution for integrated GPS. I will be when of their first customers, along with many more N95/6110 owners..

Its very different if you think about it, when shoplifiting your stealing a tangible product, it costs money to produce that individual item.. As software/data is replicated for 'free', it costs no extra money to produce that item.
Not that i agree with pirating software, but when people compare it to stealing cars and shoplifiting they're really making it harder for their point to be made.
Ah, I knew that argument would pop up 😉
Whilst not a phsyical product, by getting a cracked version your still taking money away - from a purchase that would have given them money towards development/support costs etc.
Like I said before, if there wasnt cracked versions around (or some people had a sudden attack of conscience), then they wouldnt have any choice but to buy the legal versions.
And continued money also encourages the support and further development of software. Why should a company bother patching/updating a product if most of it being used is cracked and contributed no money?
So yes, using cracked versions is just as bad as shoplifting. You find the people always say 'Well I wouldnt have bought it anyway', but if they had no other choice, you can bet they wouldnt go without and stump up the money.
I agree with bartmanekul. The price of software is carefully calculated to be the amount they need to turn profit divided by the number of copied they estimate selling. Everyone that uses the cracked version instead of paying reduces the sales by one and that means, ultimately, the next version will be more expensive as they a) expect less sales and b) need to recover some of the costs.
It is not unlike shoplifting. A physical item's cost is not just the materials but the setup costs, running costs, staff wages etc which software products also carry.
And besides the moral argument, the simple fact is that this forum has rules which prohibit the linking, promoting or distributing of cracked software. If you disagree with the rules, find another forum.
I feel this is turning into the pirate thread like the R66 one with a million posts on "how do I sign this..??" and "Where do I put the maps??" or the "I want to help you install the pirate copy"
For gods sake people.. if you are going to pirate.. put it on the pirate boards. Not a general community and dev board such as this...
Lets just get back to topic and start talking about using Garmin XT, not about whether its a legal or non legal copy being used.
Sounds good, what did you have in mind?
I still need to flog mine on ebay, would rather keep navigon.
Navigon actually have a very decent set of options on their software, on every format bar symbian! Bah.
If Garmin could sort out the slightly late commands and the crap postcodes they have...and the biggest hurdle, the fact its tied to a memory card.
Never mind the old .20 version. Check out the new and much enhanced .40 update, available at the Garmin site. Unless you have to fiddle around with patches, cracks or whatever, it is a very nice and easy update. It accepts your current valid registration and never bother you with such details 😊
Dont spose it allows you to use another card? If I could transfer it to my 4GB card without messing it up license wise Id be more interested to have another go.
If Im forced to carry another card with me I know Id lose it. :icon13:
Have you got a link to the changes in the update? I cant find it on the garmin site. Can find version 10 and 20, but not XT.

Sorry. Haven't actually bought the soft. Just seen the updated version run and it runs very well. On the N95 the numbered shortcuts for each function now actually works 😊 but still no way to turn the volume up or down without having to go deep into the menus. That is so weird...
Downloadable from here http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00579-00
Ok... I have just read that Garmin have a new offer: version .60 AND a free 14 day trial! But it's aimed at the Asian market 😞
The .60 update should be able to run on english language devices, though, if you are brave enough to give it a try. I wouldn't, without more info, but my chinese are not quite up to speed, so I guess we'll have to wait a bit.
