V20, Music Store, and DRM problems

I gave up on waiting for v20, changed product code from 0547686 to 0536062, updated firmware (bit of a hiccup part-way through but seemed OK when it restarted), changed product code back (not sure why, really, is this where I went wrong?) signed-up for the Music Store, bought an album.

Now... purchased music won't play on the handset, saying it hasn't got a licence. It plays fine on the PC. It won't sync from Windows Media Player but comes up with an error. Re-downloading on the handset doesn't help.

'Help' files on the handset music store aren't really very helpful, and 'help' on the PC music store are just about problems on the PC.

Glad it isn't just me. this has been driving me nuts. Music plays fine on my PC but transfer it to my phone and nope, no go. Even after "re-acquiring licence". Would love to know the answer.

Well, I've posted a support question with them, anyway. I suppose it's the price one pays for being the first to try out something new. I might try re-formatting my card next if I don't hear from them.

You don't have to "send" it from WMP to the handset do you? Technics SD card devices will only let you send audio via their software after it is signed with their DRM stuff. If it isn't signed, it won't play on the device = crap or what? I hope there is none of that malarky here!

No, I've tried syncing from WMP too. It starts to do it but generates an error.

Cracked it. Re-formatted the flash card, downloaded again and when I went to play it got the error about being no license and should it get the license over the air. This time, though, when it connected it got the license OK.

To be fair, the Music Store help pages do suggest re-formatting the card, but I was putting it off because now I have to do my maps etc, 😡
