Very interesting stuff Menneisyys! Well done for this extensive testing!

(I whish I Finnish stations switched to aacPlus though so that they could become accessible with GPRS only.)

Unfortunately, Nokia seem to have a rather hostile view on OGG. As mentioned here, they don't like the format because it doesn't support DRM.

This is really unfortunate, as I would love to see OGG support integrated into their media player, so I don't have to rely on 3rd party software to listen to my OGG music (which has been ripped from my legally acquired CD collection).

im surprised changing the Wifi power down to 4mw doesnt make a difference though. Thought that would certainly make quite a vast improvement.

I too thought so. However, there doesn't seem to be any difference and, interestingly, when it's set to 4 mW, the Wi-Fi range in no way decreases. That is, i could still upload a huge file through three (!) concrete walls. (Then, of course, the power consumption clearly increased.)

All in all, I don't think this setting has any effect - at least not in the v20 firmware.

im on version 11 on n95 8gb. I wonder if the setting is there but in actual fact it doesnt change anything...?

has anyone tested the power consumption of 3rd party applications which need to run on the back ground?

example: ShakeMe, Nokmote, Flip Silent, ShutUp

for N95 8GB idling without any additional applications running at the background (apart from the standard OS applications that is required for operating, does not include bluetooth/wireless being on) gives an idle of 0.25W

when Flip Silent is left to run and idling average is up to 0.27W

will this effect the battery life between charges compared to without the application running? can this be considered a big difference?

what about other applications, anyone?
