added benefit of upgrade

Well, not sure what brought this about but I've just received a text from Nokia (strange in itself) telling me that if I press and hold the # key I can quickly switch profile from General to Silent. What??? this was news to me, as I was never able to do it before. So a quick test and WTF, yes, I switched profile from General to Silent. Pressed # again and switched back to General. Neat. Not sure if this is as a result of switching to Euro 1 or the upgrade to v20. Either way, I'm happy with this new feature.

Sorry, this feature is old news. I've even got it on my Nokia N70.

No you're missing the point. I wasn't able to do it before. Now. After changing product code and upgrading, I can. I know the feature has been around for ages for some. But for others, myself included, it wasn't an available option. Now it is, and I'm happy. So go rain on somebody else's parade 😉

Oh right, I figured it was old news because that tip has worked for me for ages. Hadn't thought that some others didn't. Glad you're happy with it, as am I 😊

Were you on Orange firmware before by any chance? I think Orange disabled the profile switching using # key, and used it to switch to line 2 instead.

its part of the 'My Nokia' thats intergrated in f.w v20...

No, he was talking about the actual ability to switch profile by holding the # key. Not the texts from Nokia telling him about the features.

Oh yeah, so he was... teach me to skim read! 😉

This function was disabled in the UK N95 Sim Free and most UK networks firmware. It has always been available on the Euro variants

So I('ve just) discovered. I wasn't aware of who could/couldn't have this function, as I've never been able to use it, either on network locked or SIM free variants. I just knew that some had it. Being a "reflash the code noob", I'm discovering the pleasures open to those who adapt the phone as required. 😊

Pressing and holding the # key doesn't necessarily change the profile between Silent and General.

What it actually does is switch between the General profile and the next one down on the list. This means that if you would prefer the # key to change between the General profile and a different profile rather than silent, you can change the settings and the name for the profile under the General to anything you like and the # key will then change between that profile and General.

Welcome to the party. 😎

yeah, actually thats a very valid point to make... as someone who hardly ever uses silent, I have a prefered profile for the 2nd in the list that I noticed activated when # is held. On top of that, its still pretty easy to single click the power button and scroll to any other profiles.
