Video Chat on the E90

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and just Bought the E90, with the hopes that I would be able to use a platform such as skype video chat or msn video etc. however i was dissappointed to see that i could not. Does anyone know of any programs that I can use to video chat via the E90 with other computers

Have not used it but read from another forum a freeware program called Fring that supports skype.
check it out

Fring supports Voice Chats via Skype (and SIP providers) but I don't know of anything that supports video chats for any of the S60 phones.

For a variety of socio-economic reasons, video chat has remained something of a white elephant. While it would be cool to video chat over msn on the E90, I dont know anyone who has even used the 3g video chat functionality of their phones, let alone put in the effort to make it work across msn or yahoo or skype or any one of the other esoteric and proprietary video chat protocols.

Also, fring is much cooler than just a skype client. It makes making a skype call much more bearable - you can whisper in their ear like a normal phone, rather than shout into a computer mic.

i did a video call the other day on my e90, to my sister on her n73, just to try it out... it was quite cool (well i say cool lol).

could even switch between the internal camera, and external camera...

Thanks guys,

Disappointing to hear though, b/c i bought this phone hoping to do the video chat thing as I am about to become a new daddy and often travel alot. If anyone gets any kind of info on how to get this puppy working. I know Skype has a Window mobile format but that would have meant myself purchasing an I-Mat Jasjar which is unbearable.

As per Fring it is really good for text messaging as the sound quality is not that great. they guys can hear me one the other side but I can not hear a word they say. I know fring is working on resolving this matter but don't know when that will happen. I tried a site called www.tokbox.com however it keeps kicking me off the url when ever i try to access it via my phone.

Where do you live? I've used 3G Video calling for awhile now when I'm in Indonesia. It's quite popular in Asia I reckon. Now if you live in the US, well, that's just tough luck. None of the US providers even support video calls...needless to say, even the 3G support is limited too. Plus, the E90 only has WCDMA on 2100 Mhz frequency...
