Yeah dream is over, its a completely different design under there!!
Worth a try and nothing lost from it so I will continue with my N95 which I love!

Brave attempt mate, well done, we can all stop wondering now.
Cheers,

Yep - valiant effort.

yeah, even the redesigned keypad alone can spoil everything. now i know you originally wanted the bigger screen but sometimes illusions help. i got a black n95 faceplate from ebay a few weeks ago and gave my n95-1 a 'facelift' and now since it's all black, it's seems as if it has a bigger - ish - screen. so far i've fooled all of my friends. like yourself, i love my original n95, i just wanted the same sleek look as the 8gb.
All I really want is the only to things the N95 8GB really offer to make it better than the N95; the bigger screen and the higher capacity battery.
The black cover does look quite nice though!
Its a shame the N82 doesnt have a bigger screen, would have been perfect tbh.
Its not about design though, its purely about marketing. Given the N95 8Gb, N95, N93i, N82 and other devices and technology out there Nokia could easily make the ultimate, "perfect" device but if they did then they would make it difficult for themselves later on. Its their ability to keep us wanting more that will drive their future success!!
Im not sure, I think your right to an extent, but new technology always makes more things possible.
Im sure processors will continue to develop and get faster for less power. Memory too, will hopefully continue.
But I reckon people are right in saying that nokia purposely do not release things like 8GB versions with card slots also.
The screen size on the N82 is a bit of a must. If its a candybar design, you cannot get a large screen on due to the keys. Its already longer than the N95's, although slimmer and lighter.
IMO the N82 was the result of a learning curve from the N95 versions. Evident in both the lens cover (dispite nokia saying that most people preffered it without for the N95 8GB) and bigger battery, along with the card slot. Although an 8GB version could be possible (in black too?).

Oh grow up and give it a rest, I dont want that polluting this thread too. Go ask a load of professional photographers if they want to have the lens cover taken off their cameras. 'Enlightened' users, *cant comment, shakes head*

Also, the glass cover is very CLOSE to the camera lens - so it won't show on photographs.
Large particles may or may not show up in photographs.
Why not put an end to the absurdity of this nonsense by getting a piece of clear plastic, putting it over your 95-8 lens cover, taking a 'before' picture - then scratching up the plastic and taking an 'after' picture ?
At least then, you'll be able to see that even IF the cover were to somehow get scratched, IT WOULDN'T MATTER ANYWAY ! 😃
Im not going to be drawn out on this, as you ignore proof. I trust what pseudofinn says, and the link in the other post on this discounts what you have said. I wont be replying in here to you again, its bad enough being in one thread.
Well speaking as an (ex) professional photographer, I personally find that the cover on the 95-1 is preferable to not having one. I got fed up with my N80's lense getting finger smudges over it and resultant images not being as clear.
Sorry, I won't hijack this thread.

And the comparison with SLR lenses remains as absurd as it was when it was made in the first place.
Scratches on lenses can cause Flare and streaks of light. Smudges and smears on lenses cause blurred fuzzy images. Fact. Whether on SLR, TLR Rangefinder or whatever. Even Binoculars.
You are acting like a Grumpy Bully now Pheonix.

But smudges and smears are easily wiped away, are they not ?
You know - breathe, rub, shoot.Fact. Whether on SLR, TLR Rangefinder or whatever. Even Binoculars.

Just to add,my N95-1 with its lens cover is good but has anyone actually looked at the build up of crap on the lens???
That said my photos have not been impaired!!

Maybe time to let it go now?

What about trying to make a n95-3 hybrid? Would any of the n95 8gb screen and front cover fit the N95-3?
With the amount of effort required you would be better off just getting the N95 8Gb!!
Then I wouldnt have 3G in the US....
Benz-Driver wrote:@yadeCool project, but you'll need the N95 8GB slider unit, as this is different from that used in N95-1. The Front-cover won't fit. Despite this it wouldn't look good as the N95-1 slider unit is silver, not black.
thats rigt, you must change the slider first. :icon4:

Is the world turning or is the universe turning around us? Just a thought because at one time it was beleived the earth was the center of the universe. I guess, depending on your paradigm, you could say we are the ones standing still.
