Ok,I have a Sprint Touch currently. And I'm already tired of the touchscreen only UI.I'm really wanting to pick up either a N95-3 or a N95 8gb.I would rather the N95-3.I like the idea of SD cards compared to an 8gb hard drive.I can live with the smaller screen and the silver color.I know that the N95-3 has the 1200mah battery and the upgraded RAM.But does it also feature the demand paging and N-Gage software?I looked around online but never found a solid answer. And if it doesn't have those features, will a firmware update fix that?I'm new to the Symbian world and already like what I've seen.I had an E61 for a short while and really liked it.So i know that im really going to like the N95.Either one that i choose.Though im leaning more towards the N95-3.Not having those features will make it a no brainer as to which one to get.IMO.TIA
Some N95-3 questions
I'm using an N95-3; it doesn't have demand paging or N-Gage software, but the firmware seems stable (V10). A firmware upgrade should fix this; I'm more interested in the N95-1's upgrade that further maximizes it's battery life.
The only edge it has over the N95 8gb is that is has a microSD slot, IMHO.
Well the N95-1 DOES have demand paging now and the enhanced battery features. Im not sure about the -3 variant but assuminglty there will be a similar update if not one already out soon.
Yeah, I'm hoping for an update with demand paging and DVFS (Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling) for my N95-3, among other things.
Ok,I found a N95 8gb for sale in my local area for $670.It sounds like a pretty good deal. It's new still in the box and is a legitimate retail version(So he says). But,I guess now my question is does it work on US 3G networks? If not, then I don't think that I want it.And you say that the N95-1 now has demand paging and better battery life? But the only problem is that it doesn't work on US 3G,Or does it now with the firmware update?I still want the N95-3.But if the N95 8gb is better then why not get that?Help me out!I want an N95 period! But,I'm just not sure which version to get now.So any advice would be greatly appreciated.TIA.
no the 8GB does NOT support US 3G. the best option is to go with the n95-3 which works on ATT 3G in the USA. no sense spending almost 1000 dollars on a phone and running it on 10 year old gsm technology. 3g all the way.
My last device wasn't 3G and it didn't bother me all that much. And that phone sucked and still had decent speeds! The N95 8gb has some good technology under the hood! And that's what makes the difference really.Look at the iphone for example. No 3G and still browses the web pretty damn fast!IMO.Maybe not as fast as the fastest 3G device. But as fast as a good bit of them.Me and a friend compared the speed of the Sprint Touch(EVDOrev0) and the iphone(EDGE).And believe it or not the iphone was faster! So wouldn't the N95 8gb be in the same category as the iphone?Personally I don't like the iphone.I think that the N95-1,2,and 3 are much better devices overall. So I would assume that the N95 8gb can out perform the iphone!Making it just as fast if not faster than the iphone on an EDGE connection.Maybe I'm wrong.I don't think so,but maybe.Anyone with some knowledge please shed some light on the situation.TIA
In the US. EDGE speeds are faster on AT&Ts networks than on T-Mobiles for some odd reason (tweaks for the iPhone I've heard).
I know, I've used both with N95-1 and N95-3.
While T-Mobile DOES have plans for 3G it's on yet another damn band not yet present on many - if any - phones yet. Something about the U.S. government not vacating that band fast enough or something.
The N95-3 is hella fast when rockin' the 3G. Combined with my N800 IT it's like being connected to wi-fi 24/7.
That said, 3G coverage areas are fairly sparse in the US outside the major cities (LA, New York City, Kansas City, Seattle, San Francisco, D.C., etc.) and when you're out on the road between major cities expect to drop back to EDGE data connectivity.
The major problem with AT&T are their extortionate data plans. T-Mobile's data plans are cheaper.
Well,I'm sold on the N95 8gb.After doing some more research and comparisons,I like it alot better than the other versions. It's mainly the look and bigger screen.I know that the N95-1 now has the firmware update with the demand paging and better battery life. But I just can't pass up getting a new N95 8gb for $650.I know that the N95 8gb doesn't have 3G,but I can live with that. It's not going to be so slow that it will be unusable.I've had devices that used EDGE and it wasn't that bad.I don't really like only having 8gbs of memory, but it's not like that not a good amount. How much more memory do you really need on a mobile device?I don't personally keep that much music and or videos on my microSD now.So it will be just fine. But are there any features or applications that would be lacking on the N95 8gb?I don't think so,but you never know.Either way,I can't wait to get my N95!I'm extremely excited! It's the best device on the market. At least for now.Damn mobile companies!lol. But if you may have a suggestion or some advice. Please post it.This is a very expensive decision and I want to be certain.I'm about 90% right now!I would like to be at 100%!lol.TIA
I have a N95-1.. But I was thinking of selling it and getting either N95-2 or N95-3...
Did you say N95 8GB for 650$??? where.. please tell me.. so I can buy it.. really.. if it's 650$ I am buying it right now.. 😊
OFF TOPIC (but please read and help): The only ONLY problem that I am having with the 8gb is that it doesn't have a microSD. it's not about the size cuz 8gb is WAY too much for me.. but sometimes I like to take the microSD out of the phone... and put it somewhere else i.e: computer.. other phone.. etc..
That's why I am loving the N95-3.. but the only down part is the 3G support or whatever.. see, I live in the U.S. BUT I also go to lots of countries ESPECIALLY to Jordan, in the middle east.. So I am not sure if it's going to work nicely there (in europe and other places)... In other words: I want the N95-3 because of the bigger battery and more ram... BUT I also want it to work in Europe/Asia/USA... hehe.. HELP!
If someone could help me out here then, please help me.. If someone has N95-3 and lives in Europe, can you give me feedback.. Or at least a link to prove that it works nicely in Europe/Asia???
Thanks in advance..
P.S: Sorry for wondering off the topic... 😊
Hey bandora,
I ended up going with the N95-1.After giving it some thought I just couldn't find enough reasons for myself to get the N95-2.Oh,and that N95-2(8gb) was BS!The dude was very shady and I decided to not buy it from him.My gut said no and I trusted it.And it was a local seller here in Texas. He was some dude on Craigslist. After it was all said and done I picked up the N95-1.Mainly because I found a pretty good deal on it IMO.Brand new factory sealed for $500.And with the new FW update it will be even better than it is right now.Which is awesome if I might add!So N95-1,v.20 FW,8gb microSD=a winner! In my book at least. And now that I have the N95-1 I understand why everyone wants to keep the lens cover!lol. It really is a must have.As well being able to hot swap microSD cards.IMO.So I could give you the link to the guy selling the N95 8gb if you really want me to.I'm not sure where you live but I'm in Dallas. All in all I'm so happy with my N95-1 it's unnatural!lol. Thanks for all the help everyone.
Well congrats my friend on your brand new N95-1... 😃
But is there anyone else that has an N95-3 that can give me a feedback on the device, and that if I should sell my N95-1 and get the N95-3???
Thanks in advance.
