Kudos to programme Barak Harel for coming up with a viable way for mere mortals to 'sign' low level utilities for S60 and Symbian OS. Having started trying to sign RotateMe a week or two ago and given up in frustration, this sort of Windows utility is extremely welcome. You'll still need a Symbian 'key' and 'cer' file, but other than that it's supposed to be totally automatic. Anyone tried it yet?
Read on in the full article.
I m currently using this tool for signing my application. make it easier my life from putting everytime my .cer .key password etc.
but some bug also like right mouse click menu does not show SignMe icon
thanx to Barak
Whilst I don't doubt for one second this is a superb tool for self signing files there seems to be another issue which needs to be resolved first. So far I have been unable to get an account on SymbianSigned because they claim email addresses from my domain (blueyonder.co.uk) are not permitted. I have posted on their forum requesting the permit my email address but to no avail. Anyone else having this problem ?
I use SignSIS-GUI by Ladiko: mosh.nokia.com/content/374C05471D8603FFE040050AEE043380
I tried signing rotateme - i got to annoyed with it and gave up - got a firend to do it for me!
try signing up at mac.com for a 14 day trial, so you can sign up on symbiansigned.
Apparently this software wasn't developed for Vista. I'm getting an error message running Vista Ultimate when I try to open it after it's installed.
Oh well. Back to the old ways of signing apps, I guess.
Unless I'm very much mistaken, this only reduces typing.
I sign my sis files using a perl script (as part of the build process) or, occasionally, by typing the command manually. It really isn't difficult to do this.
The difficulty is coming up with the certificate in the first place - ie all that 'capabilities' stuff.
Also, IINM, 'mere mortals' aren't supposed to be signing stuff anyway - that's the job of the developer. Symbian Signed made a big fuss about this a few months back when their servers became overloaded due to 'mere mortals' asking for certificates/etc. I just looked on their web site to see if anything has changed in this respect and it doesn't seem to have - it's still supposed to be only for developers.
Yep the difficult part is getting the certificate file. Once you have that the process is fairly easy and this process is just repeated for all unsigned apps because you now have the certificate for your imei. I've been using easysign which does a similar thing for a while now...

Jonny, there's a permission issue with the current version (1.05), the next version that will be released within the next few days should solve that (and other issues).
I'll post here when it's out.
When I click on the "SignME" button on the "right-click-menu" the app doesnt get signed, instead this just opens the "Open-with" program. You know same program which comes up if u right click on anything and press "Open-with". Why? I use XP home.
But anyway, still a great app, it does shorten the time taken to sign apps 😊
I installed the file and tried to sign a file. It seems to think about things for a bit then comes back with an error that says...
"Umm...something went wrong.
Cannot find the new signed file..."
a newer beta version (1.07) is now available at http://www.barakharel.com/signme

OK, my beta version has expired, downloaded 1.07, and first REPAIRED the old install (did not work)
So I un-installed signme!, downloaded new version (again) in case the download was "rotten", installed it, BUT....
"GAME OVER, this beta version has expired"
What do I do wrong???:con?
Keep up the good work! Brilliant program!!!:icon14:
Just installed 1.07 but i instantly get a message that the beta has expired....
If you download the .msi file, run it, uninstall the old version, re-run it... install the new version it should pick up where it left off, just updated. No need to get new cer files etc etc etc
